Finally Magvel had return to its former self. Grado and parts of Jehanna had finally been restored, however Fomortiis still lefts its scars on their lands. Luckily they were slight and insignificant but will never be forgotten. Frelia and its king can proudly say they were partly responsible for the success of the rebuilds. Though it was the combined effort from the surrounding kingdoms that aided to make this all possible. Peace had somewhat settled back onto said kingdom and the Frelian king tried many times to join in the elation with everyone. But unfortunately, there was a permanent strain in his heart that once surrendered to the ruler of the kingdom he had traveled to today.
Ephraim of Renais...
Looking back, Ephraim had truly captivated his heart. Even now, Innes’s mind would wander to the time he had spent with the other king. He was someone Innes couldn’t fully forget despite having a loving wife now. And it didn’t help that he still needed to keep in contact with the Renais king for political reasons. Though over the years, their interactions have become very formal and short. Mainly, he assumed, because of their past and what they used to mean to each other.
Or still meant...
“Welcome king Innes of Frelia!” the guards in front spoke in unison as Innes approached the castle’s entrance and all the Frelian could do was nod in acknowledgement.
He felt uncomfortable - like he didn’t belong here. As he walked to the castle’s audience chamber he felt his heart rate increase, his hands become sweaty and his legs felt weak from nerves. He felt as if he could collapse at any given moment and he wanted to return home back to Frelia.
But he couldn’t...
Watching the audience chamber’s doors open, his eyes finally gazed upon the face that he had seen in his memories, “Ephraim,” he whispered and it felt like centuries since he last spoke that name aloud.
It had only been two years since they last seen each other and honestly he felt time’s effects. Though the other king’s appearance had not change there was an unfamiliar air between the two that unsettled the Frelian. And as he approached closer to Ephraim, he wanted to desperately reach out and embrace the man he once called his lover. But he would be called a fool if he didn;t notice the sullen hue that overtook Ephraim’s eyes and Innes knew he had truly broken his heart.
“Long time no see.”
