You guys, someone asked me how I first discovered @teganandsara, and here, this was it.  The time was sometime in 2003, and my then-girlfriend’s ex-girlfriend was a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and found this video and looked up Tegan and Sara and shared it with my girlfriend... and the rest is history.  I told T&S that my dream song request would be “Come On,” because it was the first song of theirs I ever heard.  This video still fucking gives me chills, and I barely even watched Buffy.  It’s like this song is made for this video.  SO GOOD.

Parties have degenerated these days. The old time shivoos and picnics where there was tea and scandal for the women, and ginger beer and sticky toffee for the kids and beer and fights for the men, were better than the modern version ... A fight livens up the evening and weeds out the undesirables, and if modern hostesses only had the enterprise to arrange a brawl among the guests the present boredom of the social round would not exist.

‘The Crown’ by The Honeydogs, from ‘Here’s Luck’

Released 2001

This band is really melodic. To me they sound a bit like the Posies, but the lead singer, Adam Levy,  is more Elvis Costello or seventies style (in terms of vocal texture - haha, does that make sense?). It’s a really fresh sound in the music industry, especially at this time. I really like how it’s got an easily recognizable melody and depth at the same time.

Make sure you get dressed up. You never know if you'll see your ex there, but he'll finally fade out 'cause you stayed out too long. It's not the same, it's never better. It'll change your world if you let it. For now, you can't see for the tears.
