Just for @shipau here’s a couple pics of me and Gwylly (short for Gwylwylyd, a medieval Welsh name meaning “meek and mild one”) at the Rockbridge County Fair. He was skinny from being weaned there, he’s much bigger and musclier now.
Gwylly is a young Kerry bull. Kerry Cattle are critically endangered, with fewer than 1000 breeding animals worldwide. We may not actually be able to save the breed, but by god we’re going to try. They’re notable for being incredibly mellow, to the point that the bulls are actually cuddly.
My boy is in training to be my Right Hand Ox here on my little farm. He’ll also get to sire a generation of calves before he loses his balls. He’s incredibly trusting and willing to try anything I ask of him. I love him to death.
