It’s a miniature Tiefling Tuesday!

Even more Matt and Ilka! King Matthias spending some quality time with his favorite Kuvasz. 🐶❤️🇭🇺

Continuing with my HeroForge tabletop minis, I made a few of Paul Kinizsi (Kinizsi Pál), one of Matthias Corvinus’s greatest generals in his Black Army. Every battle he led ended in victory for the Hungarians.

According to legend, Kinizsi was born the son of a miller, and was physically very strong (IRL he was from a minor noble family…more likely they owned the land on which the mill was located). One day, King Matthias and his retinue were out hunting, and they stopped by the Kinizsi family’s mill. Paul served the king a drink using a millstone as a serving tray. King Matthias was impressed with Paul’s strength, and offered for him to join his armies.

He was said to have wielded two swords, and, according to legend, after the Battle of Breadfield, he did a victory dance with the corpses of three Turkish soldiers, one under each arm, and the third hanging from his teeth.

Badass.

P.S. I know the armor isn’t historically accurate. HeroForge doesn’t have what I needed, but I say it’s close enough.

Meanwhile, here’s Pálko in an “I flexed and the sleeves popped off” variation. I always pictured him being portrayed by Rory McCann or some other big ripped guy. I also made a shirtless one, but I’m afraid it’s going to get this post flagged lol.

More Matt and Ilka in HeroForge.

King Matthias Corvinus reloads his crossbow while his Kuvasz partner Ilka spots a deer (or perhaps…a more elusive prey?) in the distance.

I’ve been trying to get my “A Texan in King Matthias’s Court” story off the ground, but the opening scene keeps crashing and burning. 😩 Though I think I might have a lead, now that I’ve played around a bit with my miniatures in HeroForge. I’ve fallen in love with the whole a-king-and-his-loyal-favorite-dog concept, that I might start there instead of what I’ve kept spitting out. I need to stop fixating on how to get a 21st century American mechanical engineer from College Station, Texas (yes, I’ve decided he’s going to be an Aggie) gets to 15th century Hungary, and just keep all of that a mystery for now.

Besides, I love dogs. And King Matthias’s love for his Kuvaszok doesn’t get enough attention. He kept at least two or three of them with him at all times, and even gifted Kuvaszok to his allies, friends, and extended family members (it is said that he had even gifted one to Vlad Țepeș when he married one of Matthias’s cousins).

Also, Texas A&M’s mascot is a beautiful fluffy collie, so I couldn’t resist making a connection there.

I had a mini made that I'll probably never use! :D Kallista 'Caritas' Naïlo, the Pugilist/Gunslinger with a fear of thunder/lightning and some slight issues with being treated like a demon (as many Tieflings are) because what if she IS the monster everyone claims her to be...? Poor soul does her best to treat others with love and kindness despite how they may treat her.
