Herring Gull at Berwick June 2024
A small holiday memory with a Herring gull from a picture taken by my sister. While we were sun bathi... wind bathing on the beach, this one came by walking up to 3 meters from us before settling like a big fat chicken in the pebbles, probably hoping we had something to give to eat. ^^ (The original is on sale, check on my previous post if you’re interested.) . #illustration #art #artstagram #artistsoninstagram #Birdlovers #Animallovers #Naturelovers #Natureart #Nature #Animal #Wildlife #Bird #Birb #landscapepainting #aquarellepainting #paintingforsale #Gull #Herringgull #Goeland #Larusargentatus #painting #traditionnalpainting #Watercolor #watercolorpainting #birdpainting #birdart #naturalisticpainting #traditionnalart #Natureartist #Animalportrait https://www.instagram.com/p/CWI979kqWRH/?utm_medium=tumblr
So I've been referring to these guys as Stevens (Steven Seagull... geddit?) But what should we name our seagull buddies? I quite like "Chip" as a name ... what do you think a good name for a seagull is? #seagull #stevenseagull #whatsmyname #needlefeltedseagull #feltseagull #herringgull #gull #gullpower #needlefeltingartist #needlefelt https://www.instagram.com/p/CZZ-6vOoSLv/?utm_medium=tumblr
This adult herring gull was brought in to the centre after a member of the public spotted it limping along. Maru quickly discovered that the bird had a swelling on the left foot and, after taking X-rays to make sure there was no infection in the bone, Maru came to the conclusion that the swelling was bumblefoot. This is also known as pododermatitis - an infection and inflammation of the soft tissue in the foot. The vet team also carried out a routine faecal sample and found the gull to have capillariasis - a parasitic infection caused by two species of nematodes. The gull has, now, been placed on a short course of antibiotics, painkillers and anti-parasitic medication, and will remain with us until the infection has completely cleared. #wild #wildlife #rescue #simoncowell #wildlifeaid #vet #veterinary #bird #herringgull #gull #animal #animals #nature #animalsofinstagram #picoftheday #birdsofinstagram #treatment #hospital #waf #wildliferescue #uk #london #england #photography https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ZX1CPgTXh/?igshid=84bdj2nikn4k
Herring gulls fighting over alewives.
A chimmney stack nearby often plays host to pairs of gulls, both Herring and Lesser Black Backed. Around the area the gulls make good use of our structures and lifestyles, buildings make fantastic nesting sites in lieu of cliffs. I think the bird on the right may have clocked me taking its picture! #urbanwildlife #urbanbirds #herringgull #chimneytops #birds #birdsofinstagram #spring #birdphotography #beautyinnature #gulls #seabirds #kingslynn #norfolk #eastanglia #britishbirds #rspb_love_nature #lovewildlife (at King's Lynn, Norfolk)
So another herring gull fledgling fell down the enclosed shaft between the buildings at work. At this point I should probably add 'Can squeeze through a 10" gap with a herring gull tucked under one arm like a rugby ball' to my CV #herringgull #larus #larusargentatus #larid #laridae #gull #seagull #ukbird #ukbirds #ukwildlife #wildliferescue #selfie
These two juvenile herring gulls arrived at the centre after being transferred from a veterinary practice. They had been raised from chicks by a member of the public but when they grew too big, she was unsure how to continue caring for them. Both are in very good health with excellent body condition, although, still too young to fly. They were placed straight in to one of our pond aviaries, to join three more juvenile herring gulls in our care. All five are at slightly different stages of growth, with the two older ones starting to stretch their wings. Hopefully it won’t be too long before our two newbie’s will be doing the same. #herringgull #birds #Wildlife #animals #handraised #youngsters #growingup #gulls https://www.instagram.com/p/B0BLICNAhl0/?igshid=4y7nmz1pikvw
