There was something weirdly calming about being assigned to solo quests. In theory, there should be more risks when dealing with these matters on his own, but the fact that Everest had control on how to handle the mission gave him the confidence that he yearned.
This time, it was a recon mission. Keep track of an ancient necklace being put on display at a gala. Simple enough.
When Everest arrived, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he was in his element. He moved amongst the crowd with ease. His charming smile created paths for him to move but also create useful cover by having people flock around him. Everything was going smoothly, Ev had his eyes on the old pendant, and thought he had control of the situation. At least, that was until he saw a vaguely familiar face.
At first, the Everest thought he just recognized him through some article or some other type of media publication, as many of the guests here were well-known figures. However, with his gaze remaining on this mysterious figure for another split moment, Everest finally realized where the hell he had seen him. Ev has seen this person at fucking camp.
The man's eyes widened just barely, trying to keep his composure in front of all of these people, but he was still annoyed by the fact. A warm facade was on display as he spoke sweet words to the crowd around him, all while Everest cursed up a storm in his head. 'Why the hell is he here?' He thought to himself. 'Maybe if I stay over here, he won't notice me and everything continues according to plan.'
