Copy from my FB: I know most people already know, but it is always interesting to remember that Mayara's baptism name is Beatriz. She was baptized by Afonso (Portugal). And she was called by it until her independence. During her independence process, Mayara had to search for a national identity and for national symbols. She found it on the Figure of the Indigenous people (the allegory of the Brazilian Empire was an Indigenous). That's why she changed her name to one of indigenous origin, "Mayara". The colors that represented Kingdom of Portugal weren't accepted anymore (red and blue), it was changed to green (Bragança House) and yellow (Habsburg House). Even though, she was a bit confused after her independence. After all, Afonso left her a giant influence. (Her first Emperor was Portuguese!). Let's remember Rio played an important role due to his status as the imperial capital of Brazil. Rafael obviously spent a lot of time with Mayara. Before independence, Rio reached the unprecedented status of being the capital of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves when the Portuguese Royal Court arrived in Brazil. Rio is a character that I want to develop a lot more, especially how he interacted with May during the history.
Let's pretend that I am not a bad artist... Instead, let's say that Rafa looks a bit older because he had a faster development attributing his city's status.When the Portuguese Royal Court arrived there (Rio de Janeiro - RJ), there were great transformations (ofc, it became the metropole's capital!!) xd the capital of Rio had quick economic, cultural and social development changes. Rafa had a growth, but it is just physically.
