When the group had surrounded him, Damian had been fully prepared to deal with them himself. It was true he was out of costume, equipped only with his civilian clothes, but that had never stopped him before. Damian Wayne was just as deadly as Robin, and his fingers had already curled themselves into fists by the time the first teenager had reached him. He had kept light on his feet, rolling his weight onto the soles to keep his center of balance low. He had been fighting his whole life, and this gaggle of wannabe-gangsters was nothing to him. Even as one reached for him, Damian was ready to grab his wrist and throw the man, utilizing the other’s superior weight to achieve maximum velocity. However... he never got that far. There was a flash of movement, a streak of red, and suddenly the man wasn’t there anymore. Suddenly, none of them were. Damian blinked, taken aback for once in his life, as he stared at the woman who had taken their place. His surprised expression only lasted a moment, however, as he immediately recomposed himself, mouth quirking downward into a frown.
❝ I could have done that myself. ❞ How he, a ten-year-old, would have defeated a dozen teenage boys wasn't offered, but his tone belied complete seriousness.
