A perfectly 3 phase mixture in the separating funnel. 

How did we end up with this? Just mix some hexane, acetonitrile and a brine solution. The reaction was ran in acetonitrile, the byproduct is soluble in brine and the product, an N-chlorinated amine is well soluble in hexanes.
