Hibiscus Infused Tequila - Solar Magic for the Leo New Moon
Ever since I stocked up on dried hibiscus flowers for my other kitchen project earlier this Summer, I’ve been wanting to make a hibiscus tequila infusion to use as an offering to the fire gods and also to make margaritas with because its is so damn good. I always charge my solar plant infusions in sunlight though and unfortunately, it has been so hot here that I have been wary of leaving my jars outside even for a short period of time.
In the end, I feel like I was just waiting for divine timing because the second best day of the year to do a solar magic spell (after Midsummer) is the day that the Leo Sun conjuncts the Leo Moon.
Alcohol infusions are one of the easiest ways to harness the energy of a plant spirit. I used 6 tbs. of dried hibiscus at one bottle of reposado tequila but the amounts can vary to your taste. I set the infusion to charge out in the Sun for two hours around noon (from 11-1) and then charged it on my solar altar for 23 more hours. This morning, I strained out the hibiscus and returned the tequila to its original bottle. As you can see, I used the help of some of my solar stones (sunstone, yellow calcite, citrine points, and a candle quartz) that had already been pre-charged with solar energy to enhance my infusion.
I will use this hibiscus infusion ritually over the coming dark months to keep the light and warmth of the Summer sun with me.
