Horse rescue is full of surprises and/or unanticipated downfalls. #HiCaliberVictoria has been full of surprises. Her first surprise was an unexpected pregnancy (having been pregnant when she was sold at auction) and when she gave birth to a precious little filly this morning (months before she was expected!). Given Victoria's excellent secret keeping ability, the baby girl was named Secret. #HiCaliberSecret is full of surprises of her own. While she seemed fine during the day, at just a few hours old she started showing signs of colic and needed medical attention immediately. After intake at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, #HiCaliberSecret is undergoing exploratory surgery to determine if she has a diaphragmatic hernia (where her intestines are pushing up against her lungs). This baby is so precious and we are desperate to save her life after everything that she and her momma have been through.
