The One Word That Changes John 15
Everyone remembers the fruit in John 15.
But is fruit actually the command Jesus keeps repeating?
When I slowed down and read the passage again, I noticed something I’d somehow missed for years. Jesus doesn’t repeatedly command His disciples to produce. He repeatedly invites them to abide.
That one observation completely changed the way I read the chapter.
What if spiritual exhaustion doesn’t come from doing too little but from trying to create what can only be received?
Maybe the invitation of John 15 is gentler than we’ve imagined.
Maybe life is received before it’s expressed.
