Emotiva UMC-200 A/V Processor
DJs and producers are still using their good old RCA cables, even though they’ve been around for so long. What’s not to like about them right? They’re cheap, and easy to use. They can also be found at almost any hardware store. Even though they aren’t made of the highest quality and tend to degrade or break after too much use, they’re easily replaceable and are the go to cable for most audio systems. Years ago, it used to be the standard for video cables as well. Component and composite cables were all made out of the same stuff, and it was a step up from using adapters that needed to be plugged into coaxial cables that were used for cable tv. HDMI cables are now becoming the new high definition cables to use in any high quality or video system. S-Video and optical cables had their chance, but HDMI is taking the same path that the original USB took to replace “pinned” computer cables. Even purely audio based workstations and units are adapting HDMI cables due to their ease of use. The next logical step is finding an A/V receiver that can handle and decode the various high quality formats. Emotiva’s offering is Audioholic’s recommendation. http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/processors/umc-200-a-v-processor
