i always thought that scene in gou where irie tells satoko she doesn't have HS anymore was funny bc can you imagine your doctor walking up to you and being like "you are no longer mentally ill :)"

everytime i see ppl comment on the og higurashi scenes with satoko and like shion or whoever hurting her and ppl being like "after seeing gou and sotsu she 100% deserves this" or some other bullshit like that im like are you fucking dumb. that is a completely different timeline. she did NOT deserve that at all y'all are nasty as hell and i hate you

that's like saying takano deserved what happened to her in some of the timelines (like the one where she was told to off herself) or saying what happened to her when she was a kid was deserved (which it was NOT holy shit) or with shion saying she deserved to have her nails ripped or whatever

i don't consider any one a true fan if they think that way about any of the character's grievances bc the whole point is showing what happened to them was fucked up and Terrible and shouldn't have happened like nxskjwdsjjsaojsb rips a hole in the drywall

when it comes to gou/sotsu, despite the character assassination and the..... not so favorable plot points, i can't hate it myself bc i feel like the animation (when they didn't reuse scenes ofc or like the exaggerated blood parts LMAO) was phenomenal, the sound design was great (the scene when they're in the bookstore was like so well done with the sound effects, the little steps of satoko's shoes and the sounds up her picking up the book) and the voice acting was really really good.

like i feel like the creative team behind making the anime did a great job!! esp since some of its struggle with being produced might've been due to the pandemic too. and ofc how heavy the animation industry can be.

and not to mention it helped to revive the higurashi fanbase and the discussion around the story, which has meant a lot to me and was a super fun time. i personally don't see what happened as canon and i do think it had some missed out potential but i cant vehemently hate it like others. maybe that's an unpopular opinion and i can live with that.

i saw someone say satoko never faced any consequence for her actions im hdjdhsbbsjsh are you forgetting the fact that rika and her go their separate ways and said that whole thing about going in opposite directions of one another? like. she does face a consequence-- her and rika do not get to stay in the same place together as they wanted. and especially since satoko was desperate to want. like yeah maybe they can reconnect in the future and it's a toxic relationship so bad things could happen given what happened while together but like. she does face a consequence for her actions: the one person she'd been chasing after leaves her and unfortunate as it may be for her, she accepts that herself by putting aside her stubbornness and realizing she can't have it her way. it's a consequence that she earned and rika chose to give her.

just because she doesn't face a consequence you think she deserves (which i assume ppl wanted her banished to another timeline or killed off or something) doesn't mean she doesn't face a consequence at all. i agree that she needs to make amends and atone for what she did to everyone else too but you cannot say she didn't face any consequence for what she did to rika. and she also faced the consequence of getting caught and losing so i think she's well enough been given what was coming to her.

#and if rika chooses to forgive her then you shouldn't get mad at her for that #she is entitled to her feelings whether you agree with her choice or not #besides i feel like it's one of those instances where you have a falling out with someone but you still think of the fond memories u share #where maybe in time they can make amends and i hope that for them #higu rants #but please stop saying she didn't face consequence at all #also ppl are forgetting consequences are both good and bad too so... eheheh...

tho i think if we could just delete tataridamashi-hen and tatariakashi-hen from the story it would be an immense improvement but i pretend that arc set doesn't exist bc it's so gross seeing the one person who caused her so much pain and suffering and is part of the reason she's so messed up in the first place being turned into this whimpy whiny uwuu i did nothing wrong

i could buy rina having a change of heart but teppei was so forced. the only thing i liked about that arc were the moments where satoko broke down. but they just had to make her so evil to make teppei look better like god.
