Dear White Feminists™ and everyone else silent on the EU hijab ban
Here’s what hijab means to me, from a Muslim woman who wears hijab:
Hijab is the radical notion that men are not owed access to women’s bodies.
Hijab teaches me consent, that no one is entitled access to my body, and that I hold inherent power that is independent of my sexuality and body. What I share with the world, whether it be my time, energy, mind, or body, is my choice and my choice alone.
Hijab rejects the notion that society is entitled to the consumption of women’s bodies.
Hijab does not oppress me. Islam does not oppress me. Listen to us. Your legalized discrimination and policing of women’s bodies and your efforts to colonize and disempower us oppress me. #StopPolicingWomensBodies
