Not a petticoat in sight at Elmwood Junction
Not a petticoat in sight at Elmwood Junction
Hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, jogging, biking, horseback riding, strollers, snowmobiling. EASY. I love trains. I love history. I love hiking. How perfect is Elmwood Junction in Hancock, NH. Checks all those boxes, and along the water too. There are wonderful historic markers throughout the area. Stop and check the list as you drive into the ample parking. We are so lucky that the…

The End is near.
The End is near. The Cranberry Meadow trail will soon be open.
The Cranberry Meadow trail boardwalk The Monadnock Conservancy and local forester Swift Corwin worked with private landowners to create the 2.6-mile Cranberry Meadow Pond Trail — a key missing link in Corwin’s vision for a 4.5-mile town-to-mountain trail from downtown Peterborough to the summit of Pack Monadnock. HARRIS CENTER: Kulish Ledge, Osgood Hill, Holt Loop and Bailey Brook Trail all in one.
DO IT! I already mentioned how I much I enjoyed the Hiroshi Loop trail. This loop is just as awesome and more of it! https://mikicc.org/mikis-picks/ I love trails with history, wildlife and views. This group of trails knocks it out of the park. On our way we met a couple of locals who do the trail often. Jennie said she always finds something different every time. Not surprising! Parking is a…

Sharon Town Forest
Easy Hiking, mountain biking, xc skiing, snowshoeing, horseback riding. What a gem. We were the only ones on the trail! Located in Sharon NH off McCoy road. The town forest is 900 acres contiguous with much more protected land nearby. This is a lovely 2.7 mile hike. We parked on the opposite side of McCoy from the entrance. The trail is mostly well marked and was clear, however, it has not…

HARRIS CENTER AND NELSON TRAILS: Brickyard Road/Partridge Woods access to Osgood Hill and beyond.
HARRIS CENTER AND NELSON TRAILS: Brickyard Road/Partridge Woods access to Osgood Hill and beyond. Great history, hiking and great for horseback riding.
Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, some areas perfect for horses. Ethan owned this land and had dreams of subdividing, however, fortunately, it did not happen. There was some talk of windmills, but access was impractical. The land was acquired in 2017, with help from the Harris Center, a bequest from Sidney and Claire Partridge(for whom the land is named), and grants from the Land and Water…
