“ care to come play a few games with me ? “ nessa offers at the first familiar face she sees, still hoping that she’d be able to talk someone into it. “ you might just be MY last hope, nobody else seems to be interested. which is as disappointing as it sounds.“
she wonders sometimes how she managed to make it past thirty at all with the way she is. standing there, staring at the prep for the guinness drinking contest, she can vividly remember her own win of the contest a few years ago. it’s a miracle her liver still works. “i kind of like the idea of entering the contest just to see if i could win it twice, but i really don’t think i could stomach it.” she’d been more in the habit of drinking the a fish at the time, and she didn’t have two teenagers to go home to back then.
the last of the green custard tarts is sold, and the ever flowing tap of green beer has run dry. while the stalls had started to close up earlier, the end of the night always concludes with the guinness drinking competition. it’s no surprise to anyone when isaac rhodes wins the title, the prize money, and the bragging rights until the next year. he’s presented with a sash and his own case of guinness to commemorate his win, and that’s when the crowd knows that the night is done, even as they laugh and smile at both the memories they’ve made, and the drunken losers making their way off the stage. there’s talks of small after parties among some, a longing for nothing but their own bed by others, and that’s when the crowd begins to move away from memorial park. they don’t get far before everyone pauses at the sound of hundreds of phones buzzing and pinging, all of them receiving the same text message: you better watch your back. i know all your secrets.
the message is followed by a link to a blog, the title causing confusion and concern among all, and one question rises above all others as it’s whispered through the crowd. who is the enmity?
ooc info:
that concludes our first event of the rp, and also introduces our first little plot twist ! it’s probably obvious, but the enmity is going to be the name of our gossip blog that you can now follow HERE ! they will function much like gossip girl in the sense that you can send in tips and spotted posts about your characters, as well as functioning as a normal rp gossip blog. this will also be how your characters secrets will be exposed ! only you can decide when they get exposed though, it won’t just be posted at any random time by the enmity. this is also a little reminder that gossip blogs are only as effective as the content you give them, so make sure you’re sending things in from time to time to help us stir the pot !
the st. patrick’s day event is now over, which means we won’t be allowing any new starters to continue. you’re more than welcome to continue your threads, and the pause on regular threads is now lifted. i hope you all enjoyed this first event, and if you have any questions about it or the gossip blog, feel free to ask !
in lex’s defense, it had been three hours since they got here and they were fairly certain that they hadn’t had a single drink yet. though there was certainly one in their hand now, how odd. “and i was like, oh my god, it doesn’t count if it’s just one beer. besides who wants to be sober on st patty’s day?” they loudly finished their story, swinging around to look for support from the person standing next to the pair and failing to notice as the person they had been speaking disappeared into the crowd. “am i right or what?”
LA never had things like this. they were above it, looking down on gaudy, over the top displays of fun, of celebration. in a way, it felt more like coming home than merely setting foot in the town itself did --- this was hillston. celebrating a casual holiday in a ridiculous fashion.
“god. the drinking contest.” mal grimaced, remembering a year where she’d tried to enter, still freshly eighteen and full of pride. “i can’t believe that’s still here.”
usually, he’s not around hillston for this. he used to spend his summer’s in hillston, would live there on and off depending on where his job lead him. sometimes he’d chase a story all the way down to florida, and then all the way back to washington. usually, he was there for the parade, but lately he’d been setting down roots. people had began to question him in the media, and he knew it would be better for his image to simply law low for a while. well, as low as you could get in a town like hillston. nevertheless, he’s not one to turn down a party of any kind, and so it’s no surprise to find him at the pop up bar, a glass of guinness in hand. “i forgot how disgusting this shit is. every year i drink it, and every year i remember why i only drink it once a year.”
“ too festive or not festive enough ? “ whilst katie had opted for some green overalls, she had used some green chalk for the ends of her hair. it’s about as festive as it was going to get. she had at least tried.“ i just hope the chalk washes out, or i’m going to be so disappointed.“
" it’s more and more impressive every year, i don’t know how they do it.“ vera has to admit, as she glances around at her surroundings. not in the slightest disappointed that she wouldn’t be able to partake in any drinking this year. admittedly ? she’s glad to sit this one out and enjoy everything else she can instead.“ what do you think ? you tried the food yet ? it’s got to be the best part this year, easily.“
