Commenting on and sharing interesting facts about the WITCH Reboot 2023 until the first volume is released in Brazil - THE VOLUME 1 HAS ALREADY BEEN RELEASED!
Commenting on the Oracle and kandrakar in the reboot.
All we have of Kandrakar is this golden room, where the Oracles watch the girls. We can see several screens around, probably to observe the other guardians (yes, you didn't read it wrong). It is a royal and luxurious place, full of pomp and grandeur. It very much resembles an opera theater, which shows a certain inspiration in the "Phantom of the Opera", with the council being masked ghosts, this is very obvious.
I wonder if this is kandrakar, or if the spirits are gathered somewhere in between, like some real theater in Heatherfield... But I don't think that's the case.
A council of seven masked spirits that form the Council in this version are presented. Their clothes are golden and the masks are clearly inspired by the Venice carnival. Of these seven spirits, only two or three of them had their names revealed. The one in the right corner with a pointy hat is Althor, the name of a council member in the classic but unimportant comics. The leader in the center is called Luba, the ghost with an old man's mask and two "horns" next to Luba is Himerish. I found this choice a bit curious, do we have Luba as the boss Oracle in this version? Well it's not what she would like.
Another interesting point is the nature of these beings. The oracles tell Will that they are just shadows and cannot physically interfere in the world without a guardian. And this seems to be really true, we see throughout the editions that they can see and talk to people, they can possess inanimate objects like appliances or books. But they are incapable of possessing a person or causing real physical harm. (Although they tried in this part).
Here I can create an interesting theory: taking into account material from the two volumes I think that these oracles are - elemental beings linked to Energy/Heart. We can see Charu destroying them with her sword and implying that she created them so they would be artificial creatures - homunculi - very similar to what the Phobos mutterers were. But while one was created from roses, these Oracles were created by the power of the elements themselves. So could we call them "Heart elementals" just like the ragorlangs at the end of the sixth arc in classic? Or the Water Shadows from the Arkhanta saga?
As for the metamoor part:
In this version, the world of metamoor appears to have a more indigenous society, with many simple tree dwellings (avatar reference?!) and simple houses in medieval villages. But we don't know if they still exist after the destruction caused by the Black Sand.
There are no signs about how the black sand appeared, a moment fourteen years before the story begins the sand appeared and began to destroy the kingdom, the population had to immigrate to Earth through the portals, being prevented by Kandrakar who imposed a veil and sent a guardian to close the cracks. At that moment, Elyon's biological mother manages to send her daughter to Earth. However, the Black Sand is not a mortal threat, the nature destroyed by the magical force managed to recover by creating new plants full of magic and more resistant to this force. As an agent of evolution, forcing beings to adapt to a new environment. With the lifting of the veil, the Black Sand arrived on Earth, creating more of this magical flora.
We don't know that it was this ancient guardian who closed the portals on metamoor.
Entering volume 2: The situation changes completely and changes the structure of things. "Kandrakar" and his Oracles simply had the function of taking care of the veil over metamoor, and passing the Heart to a guardian. With the rebellion started by Will and her friends, the true villain presents herself: Charu, the empress of Kandrakar. She promptly eliminates the oracles for their failure. Yes this is the end of them.
"Luba's reign was short-lived"
In the past at an unspecified time, there was a world: Panthos, the realm of the magic of the elements of nature. The people of this world, the Aisnas, had magical hearts (in the literal sense, they are really their hearts) that allowed them to use and manipulate the magic of the elements. Meanwhile, the other worlds were in decay without energy to nourish their worlds, if Panthos's magic was divided throughout the universe, it could help, but the Aisnas kept this power to themselves.
Empress Charu did not tolerate this and took the magic of the elements for herself, and spread it throughout the universe, beginning what would be known as the Great Liberation. However, the energy of the elements is not infinite (yes, that's what you read) and Charu also wanted to keep the power for herself, not become obsolete or disposable because the universe would be better off having this powerful magic.
She took the power and sealed all the inhabitants in crystals as a source of magical energy. Thus creating the Hearts of Kandrakar, and giving them to any people who could be easily controlled to become guardians in each world. With the release of the Black Sand on metamoor, the veil was lifted and Charu tasked the Oracles with watching over the place and handed over the Heart of Kandrakar to be used by a guardian.
With the Heart, the guardian would be under direct mental control, which was one of the reasons Will was chosen, she appeared to be insecure and submissive, easy to control. This was the biggest mistake of the Oracles, who did not expect her to find strength within herself and with her friends, managing to rebel and sharing magic with her friends.
In the end, Charu is defeated and runs away, with the girls showing the strength of their union. And leaving it open as to what new confrontations could be like.

I can't get over how some W.I.T.C.H. characters just cease to exist as the story goes on.
Endarno becomes a member of the Triumvirat, probably one of the most important people in the universe, but a few chapters later, it's back to Himerish being the sole ruler of Kandrakar and we don't ever even see Endarno again.
Tibor just sort of stops showing up only to reappear in the very final page of the series which makes no sense chronologically anyway.
Eric moves out and tries really hard to stay relevant, but after a while, boom, Hay Lin is apparently single now and dreaming of having a boyfriend. She only casually mentions Eric as her ex MANY chapters later.
Stephen and his gang have been exposed to be able to secretly control the whole city from the underground, yet they are completely evaporated from mankind's records and memories (including Irma's crush on Stephen) soon after their arc ends.
I could probably list more if I thought a bit longer about it.
