Hey! I've been rewatching HIMYM recently and honestly Professer Ted is just. Yes. So like maybe something about being in his class and finding each other cute and him trying to impress the reader? Tysm :)
(A/N): I’m so happy to be able to write for Ted! Thank you so much for the request, I hope what I wrote will reach your expectations <3
You were sitting at the front of the class, exchanging a few words with a friendly classmate of yours when he walked in. You didn't turn towards him at first, barely noticing him writing something on the board from the corner of your eyes, and it's when your classmate signified you that the class is about to start that you set your eyes on him.
'Oh, he's cute.' You think just as he turns around, revealing nervous but kind brown eyes and a small smile. You read off the words 'Professor Mosby' on the board behind him just as he takes a pile of papers from his suitcase and passes them around.
You can't help but wonder what his first name is.
"Hello, everyone, I'm-" He shows off what he wrote with a proud movement of his arm, his lips stretch out into a smile. "-Professor Ted Mosby. I'll be your teacher for this semester."
'Ted, huh?' You suddenly have the feeling that it's gonna be a great semester, feeling the excitement rising inside your chest.
"Now, since this is the first class, I'm gonna be reading out your names to try to learn them." He picks out a list of some kind from his desk, clearing his throat before he starts reading off your classmates' names. He takes the time to look at each and every one of them when they say 'here', writing down something whenever someone seems to be absent. As he gets close and closer to your name, you start to feel as if you were on the edge of your seat, still playing with your pencil with a new sense of the word 'anticipation'.
"(Y/F/N)?"
You raise your pen in the air, the tip of your fingers tingling when he sets his eyes on you. "Here."
"(Y/N)..." He seems to be taken aback for a moment as he blinks, a genuine smile coming to his lips soon after. "... Hi."
You feel your smile stretch out, your eyes sparkling as you gently bite into your pencil. "Hi, Ted."
Your friendly classmate next to you snickers at how bold you are to call him by his first name, you being entirely focused on the fact that your professor now seems to be flustered by your simple action. He gives out a nervous chuckle, his mouth opening and closing for a while. He seems to wanna say something to you, then rapidly gives it up to simply move on to name the rest of your classmates. That just makes you find him even cuter than before, especially when he starts sparing you a few looks every now and then. He starts cracking up a few jokes while he goes through the synopsis of his class with you all, his eyes always looking in your direction to see if you're laughing.
"So you'll have a project due on the 29th of October-" He stops when he sees you raise your hand, his voice shaking for a split second. "U-um... Yes, (Y/N)?"
"Will there be a way for us to contact you outside of class?" Your lips stretch out when you notice his eyes sparkling up. "You know... In case we have any questions."
"Well... my email and phone number are at the front page..." He gives out a smile, his eyes trying to look at your other classmates before they go back to you. "And we can always schedule a private meeting if you need to."
"Great." You lean back against your chair, grinning. "I'll probably take you up on that."
“Al…” He starts stuttering the same syllable for a while, making a few students exchanging grins. “Alright then… so! As I was saying-”
You stay silent and listen to him explain the rest with a wide smile on your lips, internally admiring how easily the words seem to pour out of his mouth while he manages to be funny and charismatic about a freaking syllabus. You’ve never been so interested in what a teacher was saying, nor have you ever been so interested in a teacher at all… and you don’t mind at all.
“Goodbye, Professor Mosby!”
He gives out a smile to each student who tells him goodbye before leaving the room, his hands putting his things back inside his suitcase. He looks up just as you pass by him, your fingers giving him a small wave as you walk away.
“See you next week, Ted.”
He gives out a wide nervous grin, his eyes sweetening for a small moment. “See you next week, (Y/N).”
You’re not the only one who found someone cute that day.
It had been a couple of weeks since Lily and Robin had found out about your crush on Barney and surprisingly, they still hadn’t told Barney.
Yes, you’d made them promise not to breathe a word of it but the fact that Lily hadn’t even told Marshall was impressive.
Everyone had agreed to go down to MacLaren’s that evening and you were half looking forward to it but also half dreading it.
Of course, you’d seen Barney over the past couple of weeks but he’d not mentioned you wingwomaning him at all and that was strange for you – usually Barney would’ve wanted to go out at least three times per week but he’d clearly decided to have a break.
Heading down to MacLaren’s you saw everyone already in the usual booth and there was a drink waiting for you.
“I could get used to this kind of service,” you commented as you slid into your spot next to Barney.
Marshall laughed whilst Barney slid an arm over the back of your seat. “Don’t thank us, it was Barney that brought it over.”
You looked at Barney with surprise on your face. “You feeling nice tonight?”
He shrugged, smirking towards you as he took a sip of his drink.
The night was going pretty well until something caught Ted’s eye.
“When you’re next up at the bar Barney, there’s a blonde in red who has been staring at you every time you move.”
Barney chuckled and you were just waiting for the suggestion of you going to chat to the girl and get her over to the group so Barney could work his charm.
“I’m not feeling it tonight man,” Barney stated as he shifted somewhat uncomfortably.
Everyone else turned to him in complete shock – when was Barney not up for chatting up a girl, the answer was never.
Barney sighed, rolling his eyes. “Why are you all looking at me like that?”
“Did I just hear that Barney Stinson doesn’t want to go and work his magic?” Marshall questioned with a smirk on his face.
You noticed the look exchange between Lily and Robin before they fixed you with a look, you knew exactly what they were trying to suggest but you just couldn’t believe it.
“Uh…I need a drink!” Lily suddenly announced, standing up. “Robin? Y/N? Join me?”
Sighing you got up and followed Lily to the bar – you noticed the girl that Ted had mentioned, and you couldn’t deny that she was stunning.
“Please tell me I’m not the only one that has realised,” Lily sounded exasperated as she spoke.
Robin laughed slightly but nodded in agreement. “We all know Barney, since when does he ignore a girl being interested.”
You sighed again and shrugged. “He didn’t seem to want to go out recently either, just kept saying we should go for dinner somewhere instead.”
Those words caught the attention of both the girls opposite you.
Lily looked at Robin, seemingly exchanging thoughts through their glances before they both turned to you.
“He knows,” they stated together.
Shaking your head, you blatantly disagreed with them. “How would he? Neither of you have said anything and we know how observant he is.”
Lily giggled but smiled knowingly. “I don’t know how he knows but he knows.”
Sighing for the third time, you decided not to listen to them anymore and went back over to the booth.
Barney slipped his arm back around you but this time he leant down to whisper in your ear. “How about we get out of here?”
Despite being confused at where exactly he wanted to go you nodded, saying goodbye to your friends and letting Barney slip your coat on for you.
He offered you his arm once you got outside and you took it but then looked at him in confusion.
“Where exactly are we going? You never want to leave MacLaren’s early, let alone when there’s some girl after you.”
He chuckled but shook his head slightly. “I never want to leave MacLaren’s early because you always want to stay later, some girl being after me doesn’t make much difference to me anymore.”
You stopped walking and continued to look at him with confusion written across your face.
“Do you really want to know?” he questioned with a sigh and at your nod he took a deep breath. “I heard you, that night you bailed on me, I heard what you were saying to Lily and Robin.”
At his words your mouth dropped open and you didn’t want to believe him.
“I heard you telling them you couldn’t compare to the girls I end up with, that you couldn’t change me, that it wouldn’t work out well,” he seemed to rush out of his words. “And I wanted to get you out of that pub so I could prove you wrong.”
You shook your head, not wanting to admit that he had heard you, not wanting to admit that he knew.
He sighed, pulling you into a hug and he couldn’t help but smile at the way you automatically wrapped your arms around him.
The two of you stood for a few moments – you not being sure what to say and Barney having said all he wanted to say.
When you slowly pulled back to look up at the man, you’d called your best friend for years, the smile on his face and the look in his eyes told you all you needed.
He had changed, he’d been that way for a long time.
Imagine beating Barney at laser tag using an unorthodox move
——— Masterlist / Ko-Fi ———
As [Name] rushed around the obstacles before her, a sinking feeling began to fill her. Barney was right on her heels and she couldn’t see a way out. When the two first walked into Laser Tag, she had been happy to see the lack of people as that would mean that they wouldn’t have to worry about being too aggressive. But now she was beginning to see the downside as that meant that there was no other player she could use as a shield against Barney. Thus this led to her current predicament of trapped in a dead-end.
She was about to try and escape when Barney suddenly appeared, his laser gun in hand. Moving closer to her, [Name] walked backward trying to put space between them before she couldn’t any longer, her back having brushed against the wall. “Any last requests?” He asked, smirking at his inevitable win.
Putting her arms around his neck, she gave him a sultry smile. “How about a kiss?” [Name] pulled him closer and pressed her lips to his. When he began to kiss back, she couldn’t help but internally smirk. As much as Barney has changed during their time dating, his sexual nature stayed which is why she knew that there was no chance he would say no to her request. So when he placed one of his arms on her waist and pulled her closer to him before deepening the kiss, [Name] knew she had him exactly where she wanted.
Knowing she couldn’t move too quickly or he’d catch on, she used one hand to pull her laser gun out of its holster while the other slowly moved down his body in an attempt to distract him. Brushing against his shirt’s collar, she trailed her fingers down his chest while continuing the kiss. Knowing he was too distracted to take notice of her next move, she pushed him away gently. Quickly taking advantage of his confusion, she raised her gun and shot him, taking enjoyment into the beeping his vest made.
Barney spluttered when he finally realized what happened. “You cheater!”
Imagine Natasha is sent to Maria when she is undercover when Fury fears for her safety. She meets Maria(Robin’s) friends in the process and they all think Maria and Natasha are together.
After what began as subtle knocks on the door, grew into loud bangs forcing the depressed Ted Moseby to get up from the brown leather couch and open it to reveal...
“Y/N?”
“Duh! Who else?” the young woman exclaimed.
Y/N forced her way passed Ted and into the legendary apartment. She slung her purse and a brown grocery bag onto the counter.
“Come in I guess..” Ted sighs closing the door.
“Hey, I brought Star Wars and booze.” Y/N playfully glares.
“Can I ask why?” Ted asks, curious about what items were contained in the bag.
“Lily and Marshall held a meeting with Barney and I about your post break-up funk. They were planning to hold an intervention when I convinced them to let me take a shot at it.” Y/N explains.
Ted looks a little insulted by nods his head anyway. Y/N holds out an unpopped bag of popcorn to the despondent-looking man, “Nuke this.”
“I’ll try but I might be too depressed according to Lily and Marshall.” Ted grunts, tossing it into the microwave.
“Hey! Do or do not, there is no try.”
“Really Y/N, Yoda?”
“Dude, we’re about to have a Star Wars Marathon. But only part 4-6, I have to work in the morning.” Y/N says, handing him a beer.
“Thanks, where’s the disc? I’ll go load it up.” Ted says, looking through the brown bag.
“Right here, we need to get you out of this funk.” Y/N claims, pouring the freshly popped popcorn into a bowl.
“It’s not a funk Y/N, something is seriously wrong with me.” Ted sighs, sitting down on the couch.
“Aww Teddy Bear, listen..”Y/N begins setting the bowl on the coffee table, “Look, she broke your heart and yes, it hurts. But it not permanent. If she was stupid enough to let you go, then she doesn’t deserve you, Teddy.”
“Thanks, Y/N.” Ted smiles and rests his head on her shoulder.
“Of course Teddy Bear! Now click play.” Y/N smiles and leans back onto the couch cushion as the movie begins.
