❝ I think most are better than their group. ❞ Julian shut his eyes, inhaling as if to steady himself. He was standing outside of… somewhere. Hardly the right side of the tracks, as they said. Julian hardly ever spent his time in the more seemly parts of their fair city, anyhow. There was no reason for it. If he went there, there were more connections to the Countess.
Julian looked towards the stars, steadying himself once more. What on earth had happened? Had he threatened a particularly uncouth altercation? It didn’t sound like him, yet his cheek stung. He touched it. No blood. He was fortunate. Most battles within such an area were hardly pleasant and oft encompassed far greater wounds.
It was not like him to remain so distracted, yet he could not help but think of a recent acquaintance and the letter they had held.
It was best to gather himself, after all.
❝ Thank you for dragging me out of there. I don’t think I was all there. ❞
"True enough," he speaks, though the words are nearly a WHISPER. Now that they're out of harm's way, his hand automatically raises, eager to prod and assess the EXTENT of the other's wound. But he pauses, thinking better of touching someone without their consent. So, his hand instead finds itself CURLED gently around his own chin, his opposite arm resting across his middle and needlessly propping up his elbow.
Robin chooses to rely on his eyes, rings of amber SCRUTINIZING the man before him. He could have sworn the bruising on his cheek was worse a moment ago, but perhaps that was ONLY his imagination. Seeing it now, he's not sure it's worth any tonic he could offer. It would heal on its own in a few days time, he's sure. He can’t help thinking the other LUCKY he was able to get away with only that, particularly given the type of people that tend to reside in this area.
"Please, it was nothing," he starts, more FIRMLY than before now that he’s sure Julian isn’t too banged up. "I just couldn't stand for the possibility that the whole lot of those men would gang up on you over something so negligible. But I take it you feel better now that you’ve had some fresh air?"
