Persephone takes the dead queen’s hand in both of her own. It breaks her heart--she was so young. Too young. Practically still a child. There was so much more she could have done in her life, had she been given a fair shake. 

She couldn’t have known it would end like this.

i’m.....  over here cryin’ bc you’re the other person who’s been around since my first peggy blog and keeps sticking around.  you’re.....  genuinely one of my very best friends,  and the way you’ve been here for me the last few days while i’ve struggled so much means so so much to me.  you’re so endlessly supportive,  and i hope it’s something i’m effective in showing in return.  on top of that,  you write so well?  your muses are all captured so well,  and your passion for each of them shines through so perfectly and i just love u sm.

Besides - he doesn’t think tales of his misadventures have spread so far as England - and surely not into the ears of such a young noblewoman of standing as the relation of the Duke of Norfolk. Katherine Howard, is it? Perhaps Lady Katherine Howard speaks of his time at war, then. 

Anatole bows over her hand either way, smiles neutrally at her when he straightens. “Well, perhaps you oughtn’t believe everything you hear, my lady?”

              there is no denying the wisdom of her words, but hearing it uttered so frankly leaves her reverberating with their ache.    she exhales and bows her head, suddenly unable to meet the kind queen’s eyes.   it is not tatiana’s will to be married for political gain   ( especially into the fraught environment of the english court )    but what else is there to do but bear it?

               ‘  i know i must… ’    for surely there are worse husbands than the nephew of the king  ;;  and her parents have emphasized that this is her choice, not by obligation or force.     she can barely bring herself to utter the admission.    ‘ but i am frightened. ’
