In the spirit of the season, I’ve decided to host a little event for historical simmers. The basic premise is that historical simmers submit their sims with a special tag before a deadline. Then, there will be a poll to determine the winner. The winner receives custom art of their sim from me! I haven’t been able to post as much as I would like to do, so I want to do something, even if it’s small, for the historical sims community. I’m not a professional artist, but I love to draw! I’m excited to see your submissions and hope I can do your sim justice!

Aspiration: Inner Peace
Born 12th of September 1368, Mathilda of Lancaster was the youngest child of John of Gaunt and his first wife, Blanche of Lancaster. Regardless of never knowing her own mother, Mathilda was often praised to be the very image of her - "both fair and bright, a true patron of beauty".
As a Lancaster, Mathilda was lucky enough to receive an extensive formal education worthy of her standing. The knowledge she received from reading fueled her love for poetry and the arts.
A cousin to the current King of England - it was expected that she would make an advantageous match like her sister, Phillipa. But instead in 1388, Mathilda married for love.

Sadly, her husband died only four years into their marriage - leaving behind Mathilda and their young daughter, Isolde.

At only four and twenty, the loss of her only love has left Mathilda with a hole in her heart. If she is to move on and give her daughter the best life possible, she must first make peace with this loss.

Bernadette Florence Washington was the product of the short-lived and unhappy marriage of Victor Washington to his second wife, Chastity Grace. Bernadette was born alongside her twin brother Bernard in the spring of 1896. Not long after the birth of her children, Chastity Grace left her husband and left to live with her mother and her own twin sister.
Tragically both Chastity Grace and her mother, Delphine Thornfeld, were murdered in the winter of the same year by Victor Washington's previous wife. In the span of a single night, Bernadette and her brother lost their grandmother, their mother, and their father. Cherish could not raise her sisters' babies alone and thus wrote to her own grandmother (Bernadette's great-grandmother) Cassandra Batie to come assist with the children. Cassandra took great care of her great-grandbabies, allowing Cherish to go off and tread the boards as an actress. In these early years of life, Bernadette was Cassandra's shadow.
Cassandra passed of old age when Bernadette and Bernard were young children. Only on the passing of their great-grandmother did their Aunt Cherish send for them to come live with her and her new oil magnate husband. They lived with her for some years, until Cherish ran away with her mistress, abandoning not only Bernadette and Bernard (for a second time) but her own infant daughter, Verity.

Her spurned husband summarily sent them to go live with their last remaining family: Their Aunt Charity Rose, her husband the Honorable Judge Alexander Goth, and their two daughters: Charlotte and Audra.

Charity and Alexander were loving to their children, if not to each other. Bernadette and Bernard had a very happy childhood with the Goths. Such happiness was to end with the ushering in of the 1910s.
First, Charlotte falls pregnant out of wedlock. In a desperate ploy to protect her reputation, Charity sends Charlotte away to live with Cherish and Elaine.

Second, Charity Rose becomes pregnant with a rainbow baby after several miscarriages. She names this daughter Claire Grace Goth.
Third, Audra gets married and moves away to Newcrest with her new husband. Close as she was Bernadette and Bernard both, the twins mourned losing their dear friend and big sister to marriage.

Then, WW1 hits. Alexander, Bernard, and Audra's husband Oliver are all drafted, alongside many others.

It did not take long for the Goth household to receive the news that Bernard and Alexander both were killed in action. Oliver's death followed soon after. The death of her twin brother hit Bernadette hard. Loss after loss destroyed the spirit of Bernadette, Charity, and Audra, but it also caused the three women to bond to one another more than ever.

They sold their manor in Willow Creek and moved to a chateau in the countryside of Windenburg. They await the end of the meaningless bloodshed and take comfort in each other. While Charity's thrown herself into raising Claire and Audra's thrown herself into studying the human body, Bernadette has chosen to put her heart and emotion into playing the piano.
Now that she's come of age and is officially a Young Adult, she wants to play for other people; to keep her brother's spirit alive with her music.

Born on May 25, 1685, Died on September 5th, 1760.
Lord Protector of the Holy Empire, Decorated veteran of War of Spanish Succession, Daring Military Commander in the rank of Major General of Cavalry, A shrewd politician and diplomat, a bonvivant, dandy and trendsetter, a prolific author, and lover of powerful women. Born in Italy, spent first half of his life in and around Austria, and his second half in southern France as an imperial envoy (and sometimes spy). Knows Italian, German, French, Spanish and Latin. Corresponded with young Voltaire, Frederic II of Prussia, and Casanova.
Born as Hadriano Gian-Battista Bellaforte (he later stuck to French version of his name) to impoverished Sabaudian gentry, his father, Colonel Hector Casimir Bellaforte was a veteran of 9 years War with France, where he lost his leg. He instilled strict, military-like discipline towards his two sons and daughter. Adrien was the eldest, and when he was 10 he was enrolled by his father to the best military academy Bellaforte family could afford. 10 years later, Cadet Bellaforte joins the Imperial Army as a young officer, and quickly climbs the ranks.
After the War for Spanish Succession, where his gallant charge of his Dragoon Regiment earned him the title of Marquis D'Orlais, he finally retired from military career, and turned to politics. He quickly advanced, becoming the minister of war, and later, Lord Protector, an honorary title, that also made him commander in chief of the Imperial army. Some gossips claim he only managed so, because he was romancing the Empress during his tenure at the imperial court. This of course, was a nonsensical rumor, that didn't account into Marquis Adrien's natural talents: Keen intelect, courage, loyalty and a go-getter attitude, that made him Her Imperial Majesty's most reliable servant. In 1731 the Empress died, and the new Emperor was not as appreciative of Marquis Adrien's service. Thus, while Marquis Adrien lost imperial favour and his position at the Imperial Court, the Emperor was still gracious enough to let him keep his titles (except the title of Lord Protector) and orders, and sent him on a life-long diplomatic mission (as Marquis stated "a very polite way to call an act of exile") to France.
In 1717, he met a young English noblewoman, Marie Louise Aston. She was sent to the imperial court as a lady in waiting for Her Imperial Majesty, as an act of good will from King George I. Marquis Adrien was head over heels over Lady Aston, for her beauty, grace and quick wit, and proposed to her. The new Marquise D'Orlais would later give birth to two children: Future famous painter Jean Francois Bellaforte (born in 1720), and Annabelle Francine Bellaforte (1726), called affectionately as Nannette, a future brilliant polymath and first woman to be admitted to the Academie Francais. Once he settled himself with his family in his grand estate near Marseille, Marquis Adrien would semi-retire from politics, and spend the rest of his days on writing treatises, novels and poetry. I’m proud to finally post the prize for the winner of the historical sim submission event's winner, @opalescence-sim! I made a drawing of her lovely sim, Mathilda of Lancaster! This was a very fun event and I’m glad I hosted it! Due to personal circumstances, I won’t have much time to post, but I hope this event encourages you to visit the blogs of those involved!
