The Mulberry tree at Lesnes Abbey. This veteran tree is believed to be a descendant of one of the 10000 Mulberry trees planted in towns across England by King James I, as part of his plan to set up his own English silk industry. However, the trees the King acquired were Black Mulberries (Morus nigra), unfortunately silkworms only feed on the leaves of the White Mulberry (Morus alba). #streetphotography #historictree #lesnesabbey #memories #nature (at Lesnes Abbey) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbJBbNQsWij/?utm_medium=tumblr
