Progress Report

I present on Thursday, and honestly I’m feeling good. Not that I’ve written the speech yet or made the power point yet. But I’ve been doing all the important discovery stuff and have found that most of the propaganda-type articles I’ve come across have been pretty much in the gray (or grey). That means that writers- at least for National Geographic and American Food Journal- wern’t trying to take a giant crap on Germany all the time, but rather kept plugging the war to the readership in a way to make it to seem worth it in the end. Nat-Geo did a really good job of being real about the conditions of the front and have many interviews with soldiers- many of whom were not all ‘honor and glory!’ but rather being very bummed about their dead friends or how long the war has gone on. I will say that there is a lot of unreliable narration, but then that lends itself to the Gray(grey) aspect of the situation. Do I really think a nat-geo reporter went and talked to Generals in the German Army? Not really, but if you think about it, the only proof we have that our reporters (in our time frame) talked to anyone is their word of mouth and maybe a picture? Maybe? I’m rambling in procrastination... World War I was an inside job and photoshopped and iliminati is real? #confirmed hahaha not really any of that.

I finally got my draft back for my paper and its NOT BAD!!! /dies/

now i can go back, fix everything, and then be really kick ass by Thursday!

I had a lovely experience in the commons today when the dude sitting a table up from me started talking to me about senior thesis and totally calmed me down and got me on the right track. People are astounding and wonderful and i'm so happy right now that a topic has appeared and I like it and it totally doesn't suck.  Off to the library now to pull together a reading list for later tonight

A new thesis 'idea' came to me while doing dishes. Something something Regency Era England something something Looking up articles to figure it out. At least I know primary source documents will be in English, one adjunct professor will be hella pleased, and I'll have a lot of read. At this point, its like whatever.

How craft beer brewers are a continuing rebellious legacy of prohibition and temperance movements.

prohibition and the temperance movement created a a hipster culture through bathtub and home brews  that persists today with constant recalls to the past in flavors, ingredients and methods.

I jokingly stated that I should make my history thesis about beer.

and then I started thinking, and became excited by my joke-dia, and now I'm looking up things about beer in America to possibly propose this thesis to my professor tomorrow.
