I can clown on 88rising all day long but y know at the end of the day I will never accept 88 slander from anyone who doesn't understand the insane impact that this label has had on asian americans in music, in southeast Asians especially in global pop music, of the integration of kpop and kindie into American mainstream pop, on the asian diaspora music community, and the impact of asian american youth culture on shaping and sustaining our own industry through financial support and community word of mouth. it does bring together a beautiful pan asian family even if that community is disproportionately wealthy, cishet, and californian lmfao
the particular effort that I feel like went into this year to grab alternative and non-traditional 88risingcore asian artists was interesting tho and idk how I feel about it but it's a funny start to see Who they're tapping. mostly I mean bixby and maybe like babebee bc even piao has an 88rising label track now and miso is unforch too integral to the kindie dean scene so she does have minor fans in the 88 listening sphere I feel
