I'm curious to know you thought on behind r!ciel's facade you mentioned? From what I've seen the fandom seems to think he's either a crazy yandere obsessed with o!ciel or he just does all this stuff to control o!ciel??

Anyway your blog has been breath of fresh air and I would be curious to read about your thoughts!

aww thank you 😵‍💫💗 I'm glad you liked my posts I'm esp crazy about rciel hehe. (sorry for taking so long to answer btw, I kept coming back editing and adding more because I like talking about him too much)

Sometimes it feels like the fandom only sees him skin deep, just as the evil twin (lol) or a crazy yandere. But there's a lot more going behind his writing than that (i mean I hope there is).

He's always had a facade up. Since he was a child, he had to live up to everyone's expectations as the "Heir". Even o!Ciel's expectations as the "Big Brother", which we saw fall apart once(!) when they were kidnapped. He finds comfort attaching himself these identities, like how o!Ciel does as the "Watchdog" and Lizzy as the "Fiancee". It's basically a coping mechanism for their trauma and grief, but just as we see how playing these roles wears down o!Ciel and Lizzy, I believe r!Ciel is growing exhausted as well (I think that's partially why he wants to fight with o!Ciel, to break away from that)

And between the trauma at the cult, getting his soul eaten, his brother stealing his life, apparently no one catching on, UT reanimating him, being experimented on for who knows how long, and being set on a path of mutual self destruction with his brother (as far as I understand it in the meta), its just. theres a lot.

He's not just a poor victim with no agency (which is also a common misconception of o!Ciel). But we've spend the Emerald Witch and the Blue Cult arcs peeling back the layers of o!Ciel's facade. And after we see all this complexity behind his actions, it's natural to apply the same logic to r!Ciel.

I think his trauma informs a lot of his current personality! I think he's more frustrated about his circumstances than he lets on. And there's so much we don't know, whether r!Ciel agrees with UT's goals, or if he feels he's being puppeted along by him, etc.

(there's also the fact that he's a bizarre doll rn. which might return him to a lot of base instincts he's holding back. tbh I don't buy into the whole bizarre doll = sociopaths = crazy, i find it rather tasteless and one dimensional)

I don't think the scenes we see with him are fake, necessarily. It's fascinating if r!Ciel does act more open about his feelings in contrast to o!Ciel. But if we're willing to see o!Ciel's actions with so much emotional depth, I think we're supposed to see the same in r!Ciel.
