"Okay, kid. Tell you what. I'm not gonna report this, but I can't have you out on the street either." She knew what it was like, living on the street, but she'd been older than this kid and she couldn't imagine what it would've been like if she'd been younger. She also wasn't going to send Danny back to his parents until she knew more about them. Why he ran away. And the foster system? She'd seen what it did to so many of the kids it tried to help, she couldn't put this kid through that either.
"So, no. You can't go, but I'll give you a couch to sleep on," She really did wish she had a room for him, but she definitely wasn't affording a two bedroom apartment on her salary, "and a fully stocked kitchen to eat to your heart's content. Sound like a deal?"
She knew she'd eventually have to do more than give him a place to stay, but she'd cross that bridge when she got to it. And what was to say he was even going to trust her enough to stay at her place without fucking off when she wasn't looking?
