We found it! We found textile heaven! Met a textile artist at the local market and she pointed me to the Hmong Market tucked away behind what appeared to be Chiang Mai's fashion district. It's good that we didn't find it till our last day because I would have had us going back everyday purchasing far more than necessary. There are at least 3 purchases I regret not making. And now it's too late😔. While my heart runneth over in in textile heaven it was bitter sweet. The cheaply made Chinese imposter fabrics still dominated the textilescape. A good percent of the more traditional or handmade pieces still contain pieces of Chinese fabrics, ribbons and trims. There are initiatives that support traditional crafts though...
