Oh that's a good question! They see each other as sisters, but it's a complex relationship for sure.

Kerra latched onto Caithe as a sister from practically moment one. This was her older sister, who'd helped guide her through the Dream and helped her fight, and this was also her mentor--someone she respected. Caithe had a lot more trouble with accepting this new sapling Valiant--both as a sibling and just in general. She wasn't afraid that Kerra would hurt her, not intentionally, but she was afraid of losing her if she let herself care. But by the end of the personal story, Kerra was her little sister.

LWS2 and HoT were rough, but they built their relationship back up through LWS3, in part because of Aurene. It's never been or going to be exactly the same as it was before, but it's strong, and they love and trust each other, enough that, years later, Caithe is the one to teach Kerra's son how to properly use daggers.

Khina: 💩 A ridiculous headcanon: Khina wears a lot of human-made clothes that don't dry as fast as largos fashion does, and she haaaates the feeling of soggy fabric, so even though she can swim just fine she doesn't usually like going in water if she can help it. 🌼 A happiness headcanon: On the flip side, she really likes thunderstorms and rain! The atmospheric changes and sounds of thunder remind her of the deep ocean, and wrappng her wing-fins around herself protects her clothes from getting wet while she enjoys the rain.

Freja: 💕 A love headcanon: Freja forms attachments easily if permitted, and is fiercely protective of those she loves. This combined with the wide range of her travels means she has friends and found family all across the Shiverpeaks, as well as in the Mists from her time in the Mist War. 🌼 A happiness headcanon: Though she's by no means a skaald, she's friends with many of them and loves to sing or hum their tunes to herself when she's alone on the road. Classifying voice types isn't my strong suit, but just googling it quickly I think she'd be a contralto?

7. the timeline in which they never experience the loss that taught them something important.

this is gonna sound so fucking sad but she would be a lot happier. having to “kill” her brother REALLY fucked up bluebell to the point of indirectly causing vlast’s death. she would have her family still and probably would have had willow all through out vanilla story-PoF which is a huge chunk of her story that he wasnt in. she also wouldnt have gone soundless after HoT, thus not ignoring the wyld hunt call to find vlast. she would be a lot more stable and wouldnt try and shoulder everything like her mentor told her too. she would be laughing and cracking jokes left and right

6. the timeline in which everything that could go wrong from this point on… does.

if you mean SPECIFICALLY for vale, then jormag made ryland the sole champion of theirs, and would have tossed vale to the slaughter to try and subtly kill him. which is basically what his dad (ban/gar) was trying to do BEFORE jormag even got to vale.  this would have caused vale to have breakdowns and mental shifts to the point of, becoming some sort of frost legion monsters. think boneskinner but still with some mental awareness. he would just keep trying to get bigger and bigger to fight jormag and get revenge.

if you mean a bad timeline in general, then jormag would have won, and i dont think i need to go into specifics bc i think vale would just become a popsicle like everyone else but a lot later on after he kills his father
