[The day that Jon received the phone call that his son had totaled his car was easily one of tbe scariest days of his life. His family was blessed though– Jadian had only come out with a broken leg that had to be surgically repaired. Jon had taken some time off of work so he could be home and tend to his son until his rehab was finished and he was back on his feet. Of course, he was home 99% of his time, and Jayla didn’t leave much either, enjoying the time her father was home more now for the time being. Jon stood in the kitchen, easily preparing lunch for his kids as he conversed easily with his girl, Lauren. They’d been together for almost a year now, and she was around when she didn’t have to work, and Jon genuinely enjoyed her company and their relationship. Jadian was idle on the couch with Jayla in the chair opposite of him, and Jon could hear the two of them having their own conversation. He was startled when he heard the knock on the door– but it didn’t surprise him. Between his friends, their family members and even neighbors and coaches, Jadian almost always had visitors coming to their home.] I’ll grab it, babe. [Lauren piped up, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before she made her way to the front door. Pulling it open, the look on her face didn’t falter, although she was shocked to see it was Jon’s ex, considering they’d never met.] Hey. The younger girl popped up from her seat, running across the living room to throw her arms around her ex-step mother. Jon could feel himself freeze up in the kitchen though, as he heard the all too familiar voice coming from the living room. For a moment, he really doubted it could even be Trinity. He knew his kids kept in contact with her frequently, but he, himself hadn’t spoken to her or seen her in months. Grabbing the two plates, Jon quickly made his way out to the front room] Here, boy. [He handed the plate to Jadian quickly, his eyes never leaving the sight of his ex wife in front of him. Shock wasn’t even the word to describe how it was seeing her there, especially with what he assumed was her boyfriend with her] Hey. [He finally spoke, setting the other plate down for Jayla on the table, looking over to his daughter as she had her arms wound tightly around Trinity.] Uh, I ain’t know you was coming.
