* HEADCANON. //. the mask. ( pt. 1 )
so my thoughts aren’t all gathered about the mask yet, but i have some key features i’d like to expand on & re - evaluate. here’s my personal headcanons, & my take on the mask’s abilities.
the mask brings out the wearer’s worst traits. for instance, skull kid’s initial loneliness is intensified, & can become so severe that he eventually ends up pushing everyone close to him away by the things he does or says. it’s also safe to say that if someone else happened upon the mask, someone who was inherently evil from the start, things could have gone a lot worse than they did.
it grants the user the ability to cast curses on whoever the wearer sees fit. changing a person’s form is a primary spell, but he can also cast curses that are emotionally crippling, messing with the cursed psychologically & can even infecting the dreams. another curse is almost plague like, infecting those who the cursed comes in contact with, with hallucinations & delusions, which can infect the dreams as well. though, this curse is rare, as the wearer is not usually fully aware of their capabilities when equipped with the mask.
the wearer can hear the voice of majora inside of their head, alongside their own. majora is manipulative, & this is intensified if the wearer has weak willpower, telling the wearer what to do & partially what to say, becoming a part of the wearer’s consciousness by default. it’s almost parasitic in the way that it takes hold of the wearer.
if majora so will it, it can make the wearer go insane. this only occurs when the wearer’s true nature shines through, or when the wearer does something that majora doesn’t like. it’s a slow descent into madness, too, & the manipulation is more rapid fire, more extreme, & majora uses the wearer’s weak points to psychologically damage them.
majora can see into the wearer’s heart & mind. it can see the wearer’s true intentions, their weaknesses, their strengths, etc, & will manipulate this to its advantage.
