ok finally gonna muster the nerve to post these as actual posts…this is profile picture no. 4, inspired by the skip of loafer mangaka, misaki takamatsu! heavily copying the illustration on the right haha…
the linework of takamatsu’s sketchier illustrations is so cool! it feels really loose and expressive, very fashion illustration-like as well! which makes sense considering how fashionable everyone in the manga is!
this is my very meagre attempt at drawing from this style… I did the sketch by hand with pencil, scanned it, and coloured digitally. man, shading is really tricky, I’m never really sure where to put the shadows?
the backpack colour is also kinda blending into the Jean jacket…I would have liked it to stand out a bit more…and also somehow show the texture of the jacket as denim rather than a regular blue collared jacket…
the proportions are also kind of off I’m noticing 🙂↕️
struggled a bit with the hair opacity…I like the texture that ended up happening but it also looks weird over the jacket eep
all in all though, it’s something! and just as a fun little thing, I made the flowers magnolias instead of cherry blossoms bc that is the flowering tree common in my area rn! it’s so nice seeming them start to bloom!
