EDIT: IT’S BLAZING SADDLES
the fact that i’m rooming with holdyourmistakeup means that sometimes we whisper to each other in the dark “are you on tumblr?” “...yeah, are you on tumblr?” “...yeah”
5, 10, 15 and 7 :)
yay thanks kat i love ya
5) do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing? do you identify yourself by the things you do?i tend to identify myself based on my relationships - dan’s daughter, katherine’s roommate, alek’s girlfriend, cari’s sister. while all of those are important i’m working on defining myself based on my relationship to the Lord - daughter of the Father, follower of Christ - rather than to any people. because people are transient and if i identify myself with them my identity is not solid, but identifying myself through God means i will be the same person for life.
10) do you have a creed?besides the literal creed of my faith, i have a lot of phrases and quotes that i try to live my life by. “bloom where you are planted,” “busy hands and prayerful heart,” and “slow to anger, quick to laugh” are just a few that really pertain to my current state in life.
15) five most influential books over your lifetime.
the alice series by phyllis reynolds naylor was the first series i loved and alice was the first character i really identified with.
the harry potter series by j. k. rowling - my mom read the first few to me when i was young and i grew up with the characters.
introduction to the devout life by st. francis de sales is one of my favorite spiritual books.
wuthering heights by emily brontë is my favorite classic.
paper towns by john green really taught me a lot and helped me feel okay about being in high school.
7) do you care about your ethnicity?not really haha. i’m mostly german, part irish, and far enough removed from all of those places that i really just feel american. although it would be cool to visit meissen, germany (my last name is derived from meissen and it’s where my ancestors are from) and know that i came from people who came from there!
20!
20) press ctrl-v and post!Well I’m writing a paper so this is copied and pasted from the e-book I’m using hahaha:
“I couldn’t believe it. My first thought was, I’m getting out of the Guard, I’m a conscientious objector, baby.”
