Quick psa: if you’re booking a holiday, please don’t use booking.com to book a place to stay! They are a total nightmare for small hotels because their commission is so large they take almost all of the slim profit margin that many ordinary people and their families have to live on. Use them to research a place to stay, but P L E A S E if you’ve found a hotel, look up the hotel during the day and book direct! 

Booking.com are basically the Jeff Bezos of the tourism industry and about as popular with the people who work in tourism.

A work colleague reminded me just this week of my little motto "my heart is happy when my hands are busy". I'd like to amend that now. My heart is happy when hands are busy.
