Prince’s Ex-Wife May Be Heading Back To Reality (TV)
For two weeks, it was rumored that Prince's siblings were considering a reality show. Some took the teaser on social media from Prince's younger sister, Tyka Nelson, as something in the works. It turns out Tyka was really teasing a birthday tribute to her brother in the form of a song and music video directed by Sanaa Hamri of Empire. While possibility of a reality show didn’t prove to be true as of this writing, it appears another person who was once connected to Prince may be thinking of reality TV fame---- once again.
Some within the ranks of Mayte Garcia's unregistered California charity, Mayte's Rescue, have been sharing the possibility of a reality show being in the works. Different sources from within the circle have told this to several different people, independently. At present it seems this is something that team is only considering. To date, there is no information on a title, network or show premise.
It is an interesting development as it would be Garcia's third dalliance into reality television. Garcia appeared on the reality show of her ex-fiance Tommy Lee and later, in 2012, revisiting her life as Prince's ex-wife in VH-1’s Hollywood Exes. She also made a one-off appearance on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
For someone who appears to struggle with real life and the truth, an unscripted, scripted show seems fitting. Maybe VH-1 will pick this up, too, like they did with Hollywood Exes if it gets beyond the discussion phase. T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle is over, what better way to follow the messy antics of Love & Hip Hop and Basketball Wives than with more mess and more hustle?
People gave Prince's siblings a hard time about the possibility of a reality show saying they were seeking to capitalize on his death when it appears it was a misunderstanding. How is his ex-wife of nearly 20 years any less culpable of seeking fame and monetary compensation from his death if she does another reality show that comes on the heels of her publishing a tell-all about her marriage to him?
