Thank you for reading!!
Mr. Guy. Can anyone see my vision.
middle-aged men yaoi in my superhero movie
Seeing the explosion in interest for Guy Gardner x Michael Holt after the Superman movie and let me just tell you... I am SO PROUD.
I've been ruminating on this ship for like over a year and let me tell you - it has so much potential.
Specifically, in recent comics (specifcally Flash #799), Michael Holt was reunited with his thought-to-have-died unborn son Jeffrey (his late wife Paula was pregnant with him at the time of her death) who had been kidnapped and raised by Apokolips's favorite foster mother - Granny Goodness (along with other suspected children of DC heroes Donna Troy and Garth/Tempest, who had also died in previous DC canon).
All that is to say is, after being reunited with his son - after ten years of being apart - Michael is... somewhat lost with what to do.
It helps and it doesn't help that his son is as smart as, if not smarter, than both his parents. So he can relate to him in that regard but might also feel like his son acts a little too grown at times, and doesn't want him to miss out on the everyday things most children get to or should get to experience.
Here's what I've been thinking...
Michael's been trying to get a babysitter for Jeffrey for some time to help with raising his son on aspects he might not be familiar with but also to expose him to more people and help with his development and social skills, two things Apokolips was not known for in their warrior training program. All previous babysitters quit, either unwilling to handle the lifestyle of a superhero or Jeffrey driving them away.
One day, while Guy is on Earth and tasked with visiting Holt Industries, there is an attack and Michael is separated from Guy and Jeffrey.
Guy tries treating Jeffrey like a child until Jeffrey tells him off, and so he tries a different approach - however still maintaining a protective bent as he is the adult in the room. As they navigate the terrain, Guy even manages to get Jeffrey to smile.
Ultimately they come across the baddie before Michael does and get in a fight, however at one point Jeffrey is left open - for whatever reason - and is about to be hit by a stray beam or some wreckage, until Guy rushes in and saves him. Jeffrey was frozen with fear for the first time and didn't know what to do.
After this Michael does find them and together they manage to reclaim the Tower.
Once things have settled and Jeffrey's been checked over for injuries, Michael tells him to say thank you to "Mr. Gardner" for looking out for him all day, Jeffrey does something surprising - he hugs Guy!
Michael is shocked.
After Jeffrey leaves they handle business but Guy lingers to talk about Jeffrey and Michael confesses how he wishes Jeffrey was as nice to his other babysitters as he was to Guy - which leads to Guy suggesting he look after Jeffrey every now and then.
"I've got nieces and nephews, a magic ring that can make ANYTHING my mind can think of, and I have a degree in early childhood development with experience in looking after children. How could I not be perfect for the job?"
"I feel like I'm gonna regret saying this but... you've got the job."
And what follows is a The Nanny-esque situation where Guy, with his style and flair, livens up both Jeffrey AND Michael's lives by being a part of it until ultimately Guy and Michael realize their feelings for each other.
Thank you for your time 😊
its this thing about terrificgreen where both of them have a metaphorical mask they wear
michael; closed off from endless grief and pouring everything he has into Being Somebody . he doesn't want to deal with people, he desperately wants things to stop being easy for him, he wants a challenge. he puts on this stone-wall outward attitude to block out the possibility of being hurt again
guy; overly cocky and confident, puts on this attitude because inside he feels he's always going to be second to Everyone in his life. coping with deep-rooted childhood trauma, and again, someone upstaging him in every aspect of his passions. he pretends to not care because it's easier to do that over facing everything he's drowned out and buried for years
when together, they finally have someone who understands the other. they can finally be themselves. they can talk about their struggles, they can feel seen and challenged and loved without having to put up any walls
i love them so much im so ill
