Where's the comic?
I had a very tight schedule to keep. I'd planned it all based on drafting and inking one page per week from the start of April and then allowing a number of weeks for colouring and assembling (the colours are going to be simple watercolour washes and does not need the amount of time that I can imagine people like Jordie Bellaire and Frank Martin put into their work)
So how far I am on after bout 7 weeks?
1 page drawn (and three sketched with another three layouts). So I've worked on 7 pages, that's on target, right?
No, it's not. So what on earth has happened? Well, first off I've had a problem or two with my eldest son and his sleeping habits or rather 'lack of'. This has resulted in my evening being eaten up trying to get him to settle and when I've finally had a chance to sit down and do anything it's well after 10 o'clock.
But I'm not going to blame my son because I've also started writing for a web site and this has taking up most of my spare time. I've had to get to know how to use various systems that I've never seen before while trying to produce reviews worth putting on line. I'm enjoying it and hope to be able to contribute a few features as well as reviews and, maybe even, be in one of the pod casts - if I can be in the right place at the right time. (the web site is needtoconsume.com check it out if you have a moment)
So I put the comic on the back burner for a while. I've looked at it a few times and felt a little sad, I want to give it more attention, nurture it. And I will get back to it soon.
In the meantime, I'm getting used to this inter-web thingy and I've produced (in the last week) a mini comic. I had to do some doodling. It's in the process of being assembled on the computer ready for printing and then photocopying. I will then send it to anyone who asks for one (and maybe send 2 copies so they have one to pass on). It's contents have only been revealed to a select few at the moment but he's a sneaky peaky:
It bares no resemblance to my main comic project, this was a bit of fun based on an idea i had while at the British Library recently. It's almost a throw away gag but I've tried to make it more than that, tried to imprint it with a simple message about being yourself. But if that doesn't work not all is lost: it also comes with a slightly unnerving mask.
