Moodboard Monday: Matty and The Lily Pad Inn

Wow two moodboards today?? I’m on a roll! .... well not actually, the one that’s queued for later was meant to be for last monday but I didn’t have the energy to finish it.... whatever. This board is for @homesteadchronicles​ Moodboard Monday prompt “baking!” I never do moodboard mondays but i saw the prompt and just HAD to do one for Matty since they are definitely my biggest baker in the universe (yes, even more than Sparky!)

Matty is from my newest Dark Heart Universe story (currently unnamed...). They are gender fluid, an absolute sunshine child, and by far the biggest mom friend you will every find. But the biggest thing about Matty is that they are the proud owner of the Lily Pad Inn, a bed and breakfast/sanctuary for Villains. Matty runs the inn with their sister, Winnie, and husband, Blue, but really it’s their baby and they are the one who made it the safe haven it is today. They never turn anyone away and always show complete kindness, love and acceptance to every Villain who comes, no matter who they are or what they’ve done.The Supers Association is well aware of the Lily Pad Inn’s reputation for being a home for Villain’s and how at any point in time it’s definitely got at least five wanted Villain’s under it’s roof. But they never try to raid the place. This is partially due to the fact that a magic type Super created shields around the inn property that prevents anyone who wishes harm on the people inside from finding or entering the place. But mostly it’s because Matty takes no shit from anyone, not even One Eye, and trust me when i say you don’t want to make Matty mad. They are the only non-Super person that One Eye is genuinely afraid to mess with. Yep, you read that right, Matty is a normal human, and yet they have stood down the most powerful psychic in the world and told him to fuck right off thank you very much. We stan a queen.

One of the main things Matty tries to do at their inn is create a family. They are of the firm belief that everyone deserve love and a second chance. So the inn is a neutral ground, where no one is allowed to fight, attack, or trigger anyone intentionally. They fully respect everyone’s boundaries and are willing to work with them however they need. They provide clothes, necessities, acceptance, and even rooms that are specifically catered for each person’s individual needs after being charmed by another magic type Super into changing at will for whoever’s name is written on the plate on the door. Those door’s can also only be opened by the person staying there, unless someone is in physical danger inside in which case only Matty, Blue, or Winnie can get in, to give every one of them a place of their own where they can feel truly safe. Matty requires people to attend family meals to foster community and a welcome environment and has Villains help them in the garden, as well as in the kitchen where they cook and bake big homemade meals and desserts every single day (and damn they are good at it, hence the prompt making me think of them!!). They even let their five year old daughter, Jasmine, play with all the Villains no matter how dangerous they are. As a certified EMT, they help anyone who is injured, and Winnie sometimes provides therapy to the Villains who want it, as she’s an (almost) licensed social worker (almost because they don’t count her work at the inn as experience hours since its with Villains so she can’t take the final test, but she’s got all the training needed and would definitely pass it if they’d let her).

Because of how much care and acceptance they find at the Lily Pad Inn, every single Villain that stays there will defend Matty, Winnie, Jazzy, and the inn at at cost... which is part of the reason One Eye stays clear. At least half the Villains in the country have stayed there after all. Many of the thieves who visit, including Sparky, frequently donate... a lot of money so that the inn can stay functioning, which is part of why Matty is able to offer rooms for free. Winnie handles the financials. It’s a really great place, and it’s all because of Matty’s determination.  And... yea!

Arda, I've GOT to tell you this: Tilda and Martha were in my dreams last night! Not just like "oh, they made a cameo" they were legit the stars of my entire dreamtime adventure. We were trying to overthrow Tilda's evil cousin (who...I don't think actually exists?). What made it funny though was that my brain somehow mixed up their personalities, so Martha was all gung-ho and bold while Tilda was meek and sweet. I've never had even my own OC's in my dreams before, so congrats! LOL

I’m honestly both crying and laughing! This is absolutely brilliant! I can’t believe that you dreamt about my girls?! Thank you for telling me! This definitely made my whole day - well, scrap that. It made my whole weekend and probably next week too! AAh!

And no, as of yet, I don’t know of an evil cousin 😂 But it’s so funny that they were having the other ones personality. I wonder how that would be? haha

But it’s honestly amazing that you dreamt of them omg! And you teamed up with them?? I would have loved to be there too 😁

here is a first introduction to marika. she is the sister of pov character rikon. at the age of four, she was present when her mother fell in love with the wrong man- josef rowe. the king of salas. at the age of four she became the king’s ward, held in high regard due to that improper romance, for the king was married, and his wife would have nothing to do with marika or her mother. she was nearly five when this romance granted her the greatest light of her life; a little brother, and they called him rikon. but things went downhill from there.

when marika was ten they fled the castle; her, and her mother, and rikon. a new crowned prince had been born, son of the king and queen, and her mother was not only heartbroken, no. she was heartbroken and running for their lives, as the queen had set her mother to take a fall for a crime that she did not commit. a crime that would have her mother executed.

twenty years they lived in happiness, finding a new life that could finally make them truly happy. their mother, elsea, worked as a healer just as she had in the castle, servicing the whole of a small village on the far border of salas. twenty years- that was all they were blessed with. because on the eve of the anniversary of their successful flee, marika found their mother. dead.

now there is no other choice to be laid before them. marika and rikon will have their revenge against the queen, because it could have been no one else who would commit such a crime. for the first time in twenty years they will leave their village safe haven; they will return to the castle that nearly killed them, and they will be the ones to kill someone this time, if marika has anything to say about it. it’s such a shame that rikon just seems to be along for the ride...

God, I am truly sorry. This is like 2 weeks late, and I STILL didn’t post it on time (I was gonna just post this on Sunday, a week late, and didn’t get on my computer at all this weekend).

Anyway, without further adieu!

Jake... you have been such a source of comfort and joy, every single time I talk to you. Like, there are very few people I can say this about, but... every time I have spoken to you, it’s been... remarkably comforting. There’s something about receiving a message from you that makes me feel better about life and how meaningless it all feels. You are so thoughtful and sweet and respectful. There is honestly not a single bad thing I can say about you, and you 100% deserved the spot on BotW! I’m so grateful to Elizabeth for nominating you, because if she hadn’t... I would never have met you and my life just wouldn’t be the same if that had never happened.
