thinking so hard about how hope is prospit and rage is derse
homestuck aspect meta in 2018
okay so we know Time and Space are required and present in all conventional Sburb sessions
and i was having a conversation about void sessions and the question came up - are there any aspects that are always present in those? obviously, based on the alpha human session, Time and Space are absent.
but its called a void session, isn’t it? so what if Void is always present as a player aspect?
why would this be? we’ll get to that in a second
lets push this theory a little farther and say that, just like in standard winning sessions, there are not one but two aspects always present. the other one i propose?
Hope
and here’s why, to both of them:
the sessions are still winnable, just not through conventional means
Void and Hope act as the alternate win condition, in essence. no, you can’t create a universe through the usual mechanisms of frog breeding and temporal manipulation, but both of these aspects serve as powerful cheat tools.
Void can get anything thats missing, and bring it within the players reach
Hope can *do* anything thats needed - it can power dreams and long shots and impossible odds, with enough support and faith and daring
the two of them bring the materials and methods from literally, categorically impossible to decidedly achievable specifically because those things are outside the realm of conventional causality
thanks for coming to my ted talk
