As the evening progresses, she finds herself less and less tense, despite the countless eyes upon her form. Still, the atmosphere of the party can get overwhelming after a while, and as the clock approaches midnight, Peggy allows herself to slip from the reverie towards the quiet fresh air. It’s a beautiful night, with the starts contrasting brightly against the velvet night sky, and for a moment, her fingers itch for a pen to write a description of it’s beauty.
Peggy is enraptured by the sight, so much that the sound of the terrace door opening startles her into turning around, mouth open to hiss out a reprimand to whoever broke her reverie. Instead, her mouth drops open once she sees who stands at the doors, and she feels as if electricity had been infused on her veins at the sight.
She recognizes the woman before her, how could she not? Nalini has been one of her favorite singers since she found Knock Five Times. There is something about her voice that is so full of life and soul that steals her breath away every time she hears it, so Peggy makes sure she can hear her sing as much as she is able. There is plenty of wonderful singers across the world, but so very few can make her feel as much as the woman in front of her does.
“I — . You — . I love your voice,” she manages to stammer out a compliment, her smile brighter than she had believed possible after her time with the troops. “I always go to Knock Five Times if I know you are going to be singing.”
