✨Polytheism Asks!✨

What has been your favorite interaction with a deity so far? HMMMMMM... This is kind of a hard one as there are a hell of a lot with some being pretty spicy/personal. If I absolutely had to pick one it would be my birthday last year as it was a very special moment for me given that I was around a decent number of deities at once and the feeling was so warm. It was just super nice to finally have that introductory moment between the deities I've been around a lot and the ones I've wanted to meet or haven't met yet. I could go into details for all the names, but it'd be an overwhelming list so I'll just keep it to my highly honored but never were in the same area until then list of Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Hestia, Athene, and Hephaistos.

What is your favorite devotional act? Mine tends to be charity work, I really like helping others in any way I can, and knowing how important it is in Hellenic polytheism came together like chocolate and peanut butter. I don't really tend to have money to give so usually it's just my time and energy that does into it. Otherwise, I'm definitely warming up to taking care of myself and home better than ever lately because of them. My mental health has improved greatly and I'm regaining passions again with their help, and in turn, my passions go back towards them.

What’s something new you want to try in your worship? I wish I had an answer to this, but unfortunately, I do not. The only thing that comes to mind is reaching out to other deities and adding them to my worship but I just did that this morning and won't be adding anyone else for now. P.S. It's Hestia and Athene as I said goodbye to Ares for now, the hug from Ares was smothering borderline crushing but oddly wholesome btw.

You're protected by your gods, even when you can't see them, or like they're just out of sight. This path can be murky, muddied by circumstance and you may doubt if the work is worth it. Contentment and fulfilment is coming, you're almost there!! Channel the energy of the turtle, steadfast and grounded, as you near to the completion you've worked hard for.

That's such a difficult question, I almost want to say everything. Just, the way I see them in even the smallest things. I see Apollo in beautiful rays of sunlight and hear him in gorgeous melodies. I see Hermes in four leaf clovers, and Hades in those lovely photos of beautiful gravestones (some of them are really just works of art). Zeus when it storms and I go out and just stand in the rain, even though I get soaked I just feel warmth and love. All those moments are just beautiful and make life worth living despite all the hardships.

I just really love Howl and his character 😅 but also the art, music, and story. honestly the whole movie is just super good and then howl being super cute is the cherry on top. I remember before I watched the movie I was like "why does everyone like Howl, I don't get it" and then I watched it, and it all made sense.

Hi! ❤️ So I was just using your Sappho Oracle (which is amazing, and I can’t thank you enough for making it!!) and I asked Hermes what he’d like as an offering if he’d help me with a problem I have. His reply was:

122 - To you I sacrifice on the altar a white goat and I will leave for you (40)

And I… I mean I laughed, because there is no way I’m offering a white goat— but then I thought that I better ask you since you’ve got more experience with this method. Maybe he meant more traditional offerings in general? Maybe he wants a goat dish? Or just meat in general? Or is it just a general call for an offering?

Aw yay I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!! But lol yes we have (generally) moved past full live sacrifice nowadays.

All those are excellent interpretations and exactly what I would have suggested. There are a couple fragments in Sappho that relate to giving or offerings, but because this one specifies the altar and how/what to sacrifice I would generally assume it’s about a formal offering or special occasion. Just a note that sacrificing a white animal normally means it is not a khthonic ritual, which is important to note here since Hermes has aspects/epithets of both.

A combination of your ideas might be in line with his desires! Perhaps start with a formal/traditional offering and do some divination privately to see how it was received.

What’s a UPG about a Deity that surprised you? And was there one that you really wanted to work out but the Deity shut it down?

Hello there!

Father Hades' sense of humor definitely surprised me. He was very observant and stoic when I first met him. Quiet and reserved. But once I got comfortable, he got comfortable, and now I get to experience his great sense of humor!

I didn't go into meeting deities with any UPG, so they have not had to shut anything down. I have learned, however, that there are certain topics they will not talk about.

Sage - what life advice would you give to someone younger?

Learn to really feel your emotions. If you can, surround yourself with people who can appropriately express their emotions. Repressing your emotions is going to hurt you deeply in the long run. It is not "strong" to bury your emotions. But I do understand if you have to do it to protect yourself. I had to as well. If you are not in a safe place to express your emotions, try to find a place where you can feel your feelings. Friends, family, school, therapy, etc. Creative outlets are phenomenal and can help you greatly.

Universe - do you think there’s other life out there or are we alone in the universe?

I believe there is other life out there.
