Continued from here:
To Robin, sleeping in nature was akin to the safety one likely felt when in the womb. Though he could never quite understand why he felt so at peace amid the trees and foliage, he hadn’t ever sought a reason. It just was. A part of him liked to think that the forest protected him. This allowed him, in turn, to protect the forest and the poor villagers that made it their home. In Storybrooke, there was no longer poor villages dotting the landscape for him to aid. His purpose had been quite removed and it had taken him some time to adjust to that knowledge.
It had been one fateful day when he had shared a drink of whiskey with one Regina Mills, formerly Evil Queen, that he had discovered his new purpose--to love a woman who could not seem to love herself. As passionately as he had followed his original purpose, so too, did he follow this one. Which was why when the ole pagan holiday of Valentine’s Day emerged, Robin performed quite a bit of research to determine was acceptable in this land of limited magic.
Thus a romantic camping trip had been planned. It may not have been Regina’s exact idea of a romantic getaway, but Robin found that there was little connecting with nature could not cure. Their initial day had been spent hiking deep in the forest that surrounded Storybrooke until they had stopped to make camp.
Now, Robin slept on. Soundly. Peacefully. Until a warm and familiar body moved over his own. Teasing lips tickled the skin of his chin and jaw--brushing over the familiar stubble. “Mmmhmmm?” he voiced as well as purred at the pleasant wakening. That was a damn good weight on him. Arms lifted, moving around her until his hands rested firmly against her back, palms slowly rubbing up and down the curve of her spine.
Lazily, blue eyes opened to find dark ones staring back at him. “Mmm. Good morning, beautiful.” One of his hands moved to cup her cheek, thumb brushing along the bone just beneath the skin. With the way the sun was filling the tent, it made her . . . glow. Those haunting dark eyes were made vibrant--glimmering. He’d only just woken up and she was already set to take his breath away.
“Hm,” he chuckled warmly, “this is a very nice way to wake, I must admit.” That thumb moved from her cheek to tap her nose playfully, “but before you wear me out . . . we ought to get packed up. We’ve got just a bit more walking to do. Then we’ll be there. Far shorter than yesterday, I promise.” Robin slowly sat up, though he made no move to dislodge her from his lap.
Hands slipped down, instead, to support her by the waist. “How did you sleep, honey?” he asked, greeting her properly with a kiss to the corner of her mouth, and then trailing down the sensitive line of her jugular.
