Another project of mine finished. This one has been waiting since November to get the final touches added.

Horned toque. 

Yarns: Briggs & Little Durasport (Black, Oatmeal), Einband (White, Almond).  Horns are stuffed with wool to keep their shape; they extend approx 17 cm from the toque.  

The horns are based on this free Krampus Hat pattern by Regina Weiss.  The toque is my own improvised creation.  

Because crochet has larger gaps between stitches than knitting, wind can get through.  I’ve worn this comfortably in -20 C with low wind, but would not wear it on a cold windy day.  

Horned toques start at $90.

Valdemar’s funny horn thing is genuinely a style worn by Medieval women called a Horned Headpiece!

Valdemar is a pretty Medieval lady and I don’t care what you say!

I made the horns from this free Krampus hat pattern, and attached them to a toque I previously made!  

The horns made from this pattern are identical--not mirrored--so the horns will will not look symmetric.  

Crocheted using Cascade Ecological wool and a 4.5mm hook.  The brown contrast yarn is a very fine brown yarn I found at the dollar store.
