Hi! I hope you have had a great summer! I don’t know about your place, but here in Crete it’s hot, very hot! And when it’s so hot outside, one wants to relax and find ways to entairntain oneself.
So, I searched for something entertaining, enlightening and age appropriate. And there you go, I found “The Horse Dancer”, which I enjoyed very much.

OMFG. I put on a low budget horse movie on Netflix and got the usual mediocre acting, poor writing, and really fucking Christian overtones, but then... HELLO RACIAL SLUR THAT WAS STUCK IN THERE LIKE IT’S NO BIG DEAL.
I actually did a spit-take because I was so stunned that a character (a ~14 year old girl no less) just casually went and said “sq**w” and had to go back to make sure I wasn’t mishearing something.
Nope.
In Horse Dancer, at a riding camp, there is literally a group of riders using an anti-indigenous slur as a name. Along with another group called “The Chiefs”.
I wasn’t expecting much from the movie except some background noise, but I sure as hell wasn’t expecting to hear a racial slur like that. Especially in a movie from this fucking year.
