I cannot believe I get to make this post… Today marks 1 year from the day Grayson came into our home. 🤯❤️😭 A year ago, I got a dog that could barely stand, much less walk; dog that had no will to eat so I’d spoon feed and cry at night when he didn’t eat enough that day; a dog that would get angry at other dogs playing because he couldn’t join. Today, I have a dog that can casually walk a 2 mile walk, a dog that cleans his bowl, checks that no-one else left anything behind and a dog that plays and sprints around every day. I work hard to get good photos of my dogs, but this one was a coincidence when both of my special boys happened to be by each other in the perfect light. ❤️ Foster Wong’s (medical hold) fur is off the charts amazing even on his back, which was definitely affected the worst by demodex and took the longest to start sprouting. Grayson’s (hospice) grin is immediately after I told him not to jump over the gate, so he jumped it twice. I’ve been saving this comparison of Grayson (hospice) for last because to me it’s the most dramatic, whether you look at his horribly prominent spine or the giant belly in the first photo. Keep in mind the first photo was AFTER our vet drained 1.5 liters of fluid. I am thankful I never got to see that before... From what I am told he was unable to stand. 💔 Thank you Pughearts for now over 7 months of meds for this fighter, they have made a huge difference. ❤️ I will never understand how his previous owner allowed such suffering before they brought him to the shelter to be euthanized. I can’t believe what I am about to write... Do you remember the fountain at sunset we biked Grayson (hospice) to his first week here? (Swipe to see photo.) Well, today he walked to it. 1.4 miles round trip and he pulled the whole time 🤯. I have done short walks for him because he loves them so much and he cries this awful cry when I take the rest of the gang out and he is left behind. So, I thought ok, come with us, let’s see how far you can go and once you slow down, we turn around. Well he never did so we ended up doing our regular “healthy dog walk”. Grayson, you never cease to amaze me with how hard you fight. Your fur grows thinner and thinner so I know your red blood cells are failing you, but your attitude remains unchanged.
