Wanted to get your perspective on a matter.
I have been dealing with some issues of false advertisement that has affected my stay and to say the least when things are going good with airbnb its all good when its bad it can GET BAD.
I had booked a location in downtown Toronto with the understand there was multiple options for parking. The issue here is the host mentions FREE STREET PARKING (none which is available, its paid meters, only free after 9 pm til 8 am the next day) paid parking and parking that is free in the building IF you reserve a spot (which we were able to do in the garage as long as we had a guest pass)
What I came to realize is that in his listing, he kept mentioning not to speak to the front desk about anything realizing that airbnb is not allowed within that complex.
Not only were we not able to get checked in in a timely manner (we did eventually after multiple times trying to contact the host who eventually answered with long hours of delays in response).
Since such incident, we came to an agreement that this host would reimburse our 1 time 24 hour parking fee of 30 dollars and told us the next day via imessage that he would work on a parking pass.
Lo and behold he did not respond all day and said it makes no sense to do so. Airbnb said they would contact the host about the matter of sorting out a situation in which we wanted to figure out a solution.
At the end of the day, for the past two nights we were in limbo about what would happen the next day not knowing if he would cancel reimburse us. We eventually had to stay put after losing out on another listing.
We winded up paying for street parking which has been costing us between 9-15 dollars a day on TOP of our pay for the place.
My question is how do we find a way to get reimbursed for something that was misleading in which our very stay was predicated on getting FREE PARKING and choosing such locations that winded up not being the reality and adding not only to a subpar experience with the place but the experience and paying out of pocket.
Who has dealt with this before? Should I get my credit card company involved? I want to be reimbursed for the street parking in which the host keeps saying there is free parking when in reality there is no FREE parking but paid parking.
Thank you for your time and all your input is welcomed.
