Hmm. My workplace is an outlier, I guess. We have to have our shit together 24/7.
I'm not saying we're inept, I'm just saying that it's not like there's some magical ~thing~ that suddenly makes you perfect at everything you do once you hit a certain age. You're allowed to ask questions, to not know everything as long as you recognize when you need help and are willing to ask for it when you need it.
Obviously there are...exceptions. Doctors who need to know lifesaving techniques, so on and so forth. But, then, even doctors consult other doctors when they're stumped.

I was just speaking from my stereotypical experience of HS -- College --- White-collar job. So, yeah. Sub in 'suit' for whatever you wear to work and 'office' for whatever kind of environment you work in.
