Amanda had been running across the scrapyard as fast as they could, the country singer who’s name they couldn’t remember had been trapped and the timer was nearly done but she was close to removing it. They felt their chest aching as they got so close, they almost gave in knowing they’d not get there in time when they stopped suddenly. They stared, their eyes widened beneath their mask as they saw the weird old rabbit guy march out of one of his doors and threw his axe right into the woman’s back. She screamed and stumbled away from Billy the puppet’s mocking gaze. The laugh was next, marking a win.
“Huh. Thanks,” Amanda said begrudgingly, as they stared at their reverse bear trap as it beeped and closed onto the blonde woman’s neck, her blood poured out of her throat like melted ice cream as she fell onto her knees. “Guess your weird corridor thing is good for something.”
“Yes, well, piglet, your inventions aren’t exactly world breaking stuff. You need a little help to make them really pop,” the deranged old man rambled, his voice manic and uneven.
“They’re not supposed to kill outright. They have to try and get out of it. That’s the point.” Amanda scowled at him, they didn’t even really know who he was. The regular thing was Springtrap, the zombie rabbit. This however was just a guy in a weird mascot costume.
“But you kill them.”
“Only when they’ve proven they don’t deserve life.”
“Well, that’s pointless,” he sighed irritatedly, taking Amanda’s different line of reasoning with offence it seemed.
“Can’t all murder helplessness children, dick,” Amanda snapped, before there was a crackling noise, a generator was nearby. They huffed and turned away, they’d deal with the freak later.
Houndmaster & Trapper
“Shit,” Evan said under his breath as he reached his activated trap. Unfortunately it wasn’t a survivor, it was a large black dog that had gotten its leg stuck. It cried and whined, and Evan knew the creature instantly. It was Portia’s cane corso Snug. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” he shushed as Snug whined. He approached and got down on his knees. The dog looked at him, deep intelligent brown eyes assessed Evan and didn’t growl. He took that as an acceptance to help, he pressed down on the lever to release the trap when he heard Portia shouting for her companion.
“I know, Snug, I know,” he soothed, scratching behind his ears with one hand as he assessed the dogs wound with an other. Evan tensed when he heard a familiar walking stick slam into the ground.
“Well, well. Tell me why I shouldn’t turn you into chow right now, MacMillan,” Portia snarled. Evan turned to her with his hands raised. Thankfully, Snug didn’t seem concerned and just began to lick at his own wound.
“I apologise, Ma’am. He got stuck in one of my traps, and I was freeing him. I did not mean for him to get hurt, Ma’am.” Evan bowed his head and held his hands behind his back like he had been taught to do when speaking to a superior. Portia wasn’t above him, but he found people responded better if you acted like they were.
“Hm. Well.” She relaxed somewhat and stared at Snug. “He telling the truth boy?” Evan looked to the dog who gave a bark and wagged his small tail. Portia nodded and her posture relaxed. “Seems you saved him and was keeping him company until his Momma got here. Suppose I can forgive you for now.”
“I will work on some deterrent to ensure he doesn’t get trapped again, Ma’am. Some scent or noise should work. If we are paired together on another occasion. Ma’am.” Evan looked down a little embarrassed, he never did well in these situations. He was good at hunting and little else. Portia crouched down next to Snug, and Evan watched as she took a balm out of her bag and rubbed it into Snug’s leg.
“He’s a clever boy, he’ll learn. Don’t worry yourself none, MacMillan.” Portia seemed satisfied as Snug’s leg healed before their eyes. “My pack have had far worse.”
Wesker & Birkin (Blight Legendary)
“Al? Is that- Is that you? Albert Wesker?” William said in a garbled voice which had become uneven in pitch and volume. His body twitched in agony as he stared at the man he was only half convinced wasn’t a hallucination. Albert was older, broader and more muscular, but it was definitely him. He still wore those sunglasses, he thought a little nostalgically. Albert strode over to William, determined and clearly trying not to seem eager.
“Will. It is, indeed. My plan worked, how interesting,” Albert responded, William could hear the relief and delight in his voice- a slight lilt that no one else noticed.
“What plan?” William asked resulting in Albert giving a proud, smug grin. William couldn’t help but smile a little, the more things change the more they stay the same, he thought.
“I decided to force the being that rules this realm to combine the trials together.” Albert sounded almost like a giddy child, and William just blinked and stared, his bafflement at this bizarre plan overriding the pain for a moment.
“Al. That’s… Ludicrous.” He was quiet for a moment trying to process what he’d just been told, anxiety twisted in his stomach. It was strange, he’d only had his base instincts for awhile. “Why? What- the Entity must be furious.”
“I think it’s more amused, it’s curious as to how I did it. Or perhaps after this phase is done with it will punish me horrifically.” Albert seemed a little affronted, if William didn’t know any better then he’d think Albert was hurt William didn’t immediately understand the supposed brilliance of it.
“But why? To challenge yourself?” William’s incredulous tone caused Albert to fold his arms and give a small frown, practically a scowl in his terms.
“What do you mean ‘why’? Isn’t it obvious? Is Golgotha rotting your brain?” Albert snapped, he might have seemed angry but William knew it was hiding something else.
“Al. Tell me.” William worked hard to sound sympathetic around the way Golgotha was making his voice scrambled and difficult to control.
“To find you. Obviously,” Albert practically growled the words, looking down at his feet like a schoolboy. He hated that he was forced to admit such a thing, which surprised William into giving a small laugh. That of course resulted in a huff from Albert. “There, you got me to admit it. Satisfied?”
“You misunderstand me.” William grunted and winced as he took a few steps forward closing the distance between him and Albert. “I- I’m surprised. Shocked. That anyone is still going to any trouble for me at all.”
“Do not be ridiculous, Will.” Albert’s voice had a touch of amusement, as he stepped forward ensuring there was barely an inch between the two of them. “Of course I am. Now I have found you it should be easier to get to you in our new… Home, I suppose.”
“How long have you been looking for me for?”
“Time does not function in the same way here.” Both Albert and William knew that was an excuse, but it meant a long time that much was clear.
“This isn’t your first attempt?” The surprise that was still filling William’s face and voice caused Albert to smile again, it annoyed William in a way that was fond and familiar. He felt like he was at the academy again.
“No.” The two of them stood in comfortable silence for just a moment, taking each other in. Until William felt the frozen Golgotha dig its teeth into his bicep then he yelled out in pain and fell back a step. The millimetre Albert’s eyebrows knitted together were an indicator of his concern. William tried to regain his composure, his breathing laboured but forcefully made slower.
“Don’t suppose you know a way to get the Entity to let me have more control over my anatomy?” He asked, a little desperately.
“Mm. You are here in a different way to myself, how do you stop Golgotha from overwhelming you?”
“The Entity stopped it from progressing. As for everything else: Grimes. He’s practically my drug dealer now.”
“Grimes. Hm. That will make finding you again easier, I know where to look.”
“Unfortunately I reside around his shack, yes.”
“That is a predicament,” Albert paused thoughtfully before he responded with more sincerity than he would have for anyone else. “I’ll see what I can do.”
“Thank you. I was offered a deal that I could not accept,” William said between his teeth, no one else he’d spoken to here understood. He knew Albert was different but his instincts were on guard.
“What was it?”
“Give up my work and allow the Entity to toy with it.”
“Ah. I see.” Albert nodded, and the two of them were relaxed, an understanding silence encasing them for a moment. An atmosphere of equals, something neither had felt in some time. “Well, I will see if there is anything that can change its mind, or override its rules.”
“Is that a good-” William began anxiously, until he felt a leather gloved hand on his shoulder.
“Oh look at that, the match is starting,” Albert interrupted, a smile spreading across his face. “How about we hunt some antelope together, Will?”
I get being upset about tunneling. I'm usually the first to complain. But I was almost down to 2 gens with no kills and everyone on Death Hook. I had to do something.
