Especially when it comes to discussions of attention span and the results of consuming short form content. It has become such a given that our attention spans need “rehabilitation” and it truly feels like a return-to-nature paleo-deification reactionary moment.

So like does anyone want to talk about how growing up in an abusive religious fundamentalist household while also attending a secular school while also being otherwise isolated from society and culture led to whopping levels of cognitive dissonance, alienation, and lack of identity or am I supposed to deconstruct this all on my own.
Recently came to the realization that part of the appeal of they/them pronouns to me lies in their association with ambiguity and unfamiliarity. The way that people use they/them most often when talking about someone in a conversation that the other people don’t know. They/them in the sense that you do not know who I am.
The euphoria of they/them pronouns vanishes as soon as someone uses my name in the same sentence. Because then I am known. Quantified. I would much rather be referred to in terms of relation. A partner, a friend, a coworker. Anything to retain that sense of indefiniteness, of anonymity.
Agender moment of the day: once again being absolutely baffled at how “women are from venus, men are from mars” sentiments continue to exist in leftist spaces, but with a new progressive coat slapped on.
