Dumbledore said, “It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.” when he spoke about what we see when we look into The Mirror of Erised. Since the very first time I saw The Mirror of Erised, I so wished I had one. To the point of me toying with the idea of getting a tattoo of it, before I ever read the book. After getting to that point in the series, it was all most confirmed, cut to getting the card in a chocolate frog pack - it’s a done deal, it will happen. But yearning for more than a tattoo, it was being able to talk to my mom again. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t talk to her and there wasn’t anything that was off limits. I was robbed of being able to pick up a phone and talk to her and ask for help. I longed for some sort of open dialog with her and maybe just maybe some mom out there would know just the right sort of mom answer and magically I would have the help I needed. People think it’s silly to still love magic and mystery and..kids stories as an adult, but I think that the Harry Potter series transcends age and spans generations - and that’s what makes it so wonderful. If more adults would refrain from skipping over something as silly as a children’s book, they would find so many stories that they can relate to at many stages of life. I started my Hogwarts journey as a vow to my mom and the more I got into it and read (had only seen the movies), the more and more it all started connecting on so many different levels and this character was born from it. A life lost is one gained…Lilly died so Harry could live. My mother cried to my as she lay dying that she will never get to read the last book…I vowed to read it for her and that is how #LevineaCastaspello was born. I often ask myself, #WWSSD (What Would Sue Sue Do? That’s my ma!) and you know what she’d do to be able to talk to her daughter? Any damn thing she could. (True story! I might have to make a post about it!). So here it is, my open dialog with mother. Rants, raves, help, advice, and just to say I love you. I give you #TheBlogOfErised.
